COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2009 Bottle, from Julio’s drunk on 2.2.09.
A dark robe with a frail, receding tan head and plenty of sediment left at the bottom of the bottle.
Prunes and espresso-like notes, nice and oily, waft gently from the glass. A warm, rather inviting shot of ethanol emerges with warming and breathing. Surprisingly, there is almost no noticeable banana or cotton candy to the nose, which is impressive, being from a young bottle.
In the mouth, the pruniness and bittersweet roast notes lend momentum to the emerging roll of sweet, milk chocolate-like maltiness and obvious alcohol warmth on the finish. The residual sugars are very persistent (and in my mind, too excessive) and lightly fatigue the palate in to tasting only this dominant flavor, over the course of the beer (three of us split the bottle). Interesting notes of fudge, sweet almond and oily, bittersweet coffee beans, and I can’t admit to being terribly offended by the alcohol appearance, being quite light for this young and high abv of a beer. Good stuff, hopefully some more complexity will develop with age.

11.2 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours an inky black, with a small brown head which quickly fades, leaving fair lacing. Nose is strong black coffee. taste is deep, rich coffee and dark malt, with a very long finish that has a hint of hop bitterness. Mouth feel is creamy and thick. One of the best coffee stouts I’ve ever had.

11.2 oz bottle purchased from State Line. I’ve had this several times over the years, but am finally sitting down to rate this beer that has become harder to find recently. Pours a dark black that does not allow light to pass at all. A one inch dark khaki head settles down to barely a hint of bubbles floating on the meniscus, leaving no lacing. Aroma is an intense yet balanced fresh black coffee with a slight sweet complexity from roasted malts. Notes of baker’s chocolate as well - a deliciously bitter aroma. Flavor is full and overpowering. Coffee is dominant, with notes of sweet chocolate, caramel, malt, oats. Mouthfeel is full, rich and viscous, like a simple syrup. The finish is outstanding - no change from the bold flavor. If anything is different, there is a slight hint of mild peppermint that I’m tasting - a pleasant roasty bitter chocolaty finish overall that is just superb. This is better than I remember, since I’m drinking it at room temperature. Delicious.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with medium creamy tan head that lasts. The aroma is cocoa, roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Thick mouthfeel with nice coffee roast, dark chocolate, nice bitterness and dry finish. Really enjoyed this one.

Bottle 50cl. Pours black with a very dark head. Extreme rich aroma of roasted malt, coffee, tar and just bery intense. If the nose was intense, then the taste basically blow up your taste buds. Amazing hiw much taste you can put in a beer. Coffee and tar is dominant and a perfect bitter finish to complete this beer. Simply fantastic if you are into extreme beers.

Pours a dark brown with a very thin head that diminishes. Aroma is fantastic! Coffee, slight booze aroma, chocolate and more coffee! That taste is out of this world. Perfectly balanced coffee flavor with yeast, vanilla, chocolate and more coffee at the finish. One of the best I’ve had!

Ganska lite kolsyra! Riktigt bra öl!!

Mikkeller Beer Geek - Brunch Weasel -- Appearance: 5/5. Pours a gorgeous thick chocolate brown-black with a very dark brown foamy head that lingers. I salivated watching it pour. -- Aroma: 7/10. Intensely yeasty and with a strong hoppy-pine aroma. Subtler notes of cocoa. Definite notes of alcohol. A little sour in the smell. -- Taste: 9/10. A nice, surprisingly restrained coffee-cocoa-ness to it with piney but not particularly bitter hoppiness. Chocolate to start, coffee along the way, and then a strong coffee-hops bitterness at the back. -- Palate: 4/5. *Incredibly* smooth across the lips and tongue, there’s no mistaking this at all for an imperial oatmeal stout right from the mouthfeel alone. Smooth and creamy across the tongue and all the way back. Only very light carbonation, with one of the gentlest astringencies I’ve come across in any oatmeal stout. The bitterness is a little too much in the finish though, and that’s the only fault in the beer, really. -- Overall: 17/20. Outstanding, but the bitterness in the finish is a critical flaw. While not as sweet as I like my stouts, the mouthfeel is surely the best I’ve ever had on any beer. Everything in this beer (except that finish bitterness) is in perfect balance. Restrained, pleasant, and delivering on its promises.

Pours dark with a thick foamy tan head. Immediate strong dark roasted coffee aroma with sweetness of dark bakers chocolate. Tastes creamy but mainly like a smooth full bodied dark coffee with dark chocolate. This is a smooth but dry beer with long roasted finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I though,,,, and that’s where the trouble started with me thinking. I got an immediate burst of coffee and dark cocoa chocolate in a beer with a load of carbonation in the mouthfeel. Then I got sourness and I got tongue buckling dryness. I guess all of which means that this might not be my kind of beer. Loadsa alcohol in this as you drink this and you can see it on the sides of the glass. Nice beer, just not the beer for me.
