Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2009 Bottle, from Julio’s drunk on 2.2.09.
A dark robe with a frail, receding tan head and plenty of sediment left at the bottom of the bottle.
Prunes and espresso-like notes, nice and oily, waft gently from the glass. A warm, rather inviting shot of ethanol emerges with warming and breathing. Surprisingly, there is almost no noticeable banana or cotton candy to the nose, which is impressive, being from a young bottle.
In the mouth, the pruniness and bittersweet roast notes lend momentum to the emerging roll of sweet, milk chocolate-like maltiness and obvious alcohol warmth on the finish. The residual sugars are very persistent (and in my mind, too excessive) and lightly fatigue the palate in to tasting only this dominant flavor, over the course of the beer (three of us split the bottle). Interesting notes of fudge, sweet almond and oily, bittersweet coffee beans, and I can’t admit to being terribly offended by the alcohol appearance, being quite light for this young and high abv of a beer. Good stuff, hopefully some more complexity will develop with age.

Pour from bottle to snifter. Jet black with a towering tan head. Nose of chocolate, earth/bark, coffee, vanilla hints, nuances of caramel/maple. Flavor is dark chocolate, some hop charactaristics, really bright yet earthy coffee, astringency and creaminess from the oats. Powerful yet balanced. Coffee is showcased in the linger, and is, quite understandably, remarkably tasty.

Black body, medium brown head with nice lacing. Aroma of coffee, porto, black chocolate. Taste is intense; it’s medium bitter, burnt, roasted; has a very spicy and slightly chocolate-y aftertaste. Alcohol is very well hidden, despite the 10,9%... Full, creamy body, slightly above average carbonation. A stout probably can’t get much better than this.

33cl bottle, served in tulip. Black colour with a beautiful tan creamy head, looks very good. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Taste is so delicious, the coffee is amazing, very well blended with the roasted malts and the oats. The chocolate touch is also there but not as much as the smell. Dry aftertaste with some balanced sweetness, very pleasant. Full body, oily texture, perfect carbonation. In short: this is TOP.

Smooth aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is chocolate, coffee without being too sweet. Tasty, but nothing really special, especially in the way of coffee - had regular imp stouts with a more pronounced coffee character.

Bottle. Pours black-dark brown color. Wonderfull big brown had which lasts and lasts. Aroma: brett, rum, vanilla, dates, wine. Wow. Flavor: brett is dominating, with again some dates. Coffe and chocolate. Really complex. Actually, slightly high level of bitterness. Mix of biterness, coffe and sourness lasts soo long in mouth. Creamy. Overall: this is great beer. Very complex and for its 11% alcohol very drinkable. Beautiful beast.

Black with thin tan creamy head. Coffee and bitter cocoa. Sweet with a bitter black cocoa finish. Soft carbonation and smooth. Oily to creamy. Good but not overly complex.

Bottle from Ebenezer’s Thick black liquid with a rich creamy mocha head that lasts forever. Huge chocolate and coffee aroma with plenty of brown sugary sweetness to pull this desert beer together. Very rich, nice brew!
