4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft taster at Bavarian Lodge. A solid black body and dark brown head. The smell is light coffee, with a slight tang of… orange peel. The first sip kind of vibrates on my tongue. The coffee aspect is mild, yet spicy. Like a light roast Sumatra coffee, and none of the roast malt of the usual strong stout. Light on alcohol. Some vanilla notes midway through my glass. After taking my notes, I looked up more details on this coffee, and found that "weasel coffee" is supposedly made much more mellow, even fermented, by enzymes during its trip through the critter’s GI. Not having tried the actual coffee, I can only say it’s reported characteristics come out very nicely in this beer. I’ve also learned that Vietnamese researchers have isolated the enzymes that make the coffee and may be mass producing it, as the ca phe chon civet is possibly endangered.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap at Øl, Copenhagen. Pitch black with multifaceted brown head and a beautiful lacing. The nose is rather soft, some cocoa and toffee, clearly roasty. Beautiful taste, very sweet but in balance with the power of this beer. Outstandingly delicious!

4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black color with medium brown foam. The smell has a lot of roasted coffee. The taste is ultra smooth, sweet, coffeeish with a high viscosity and a lot of bitter dark chocolate. The aftertaste is smooth as gargling silk that has been soaked in chocolate cream. This beer is just awesome, and I don’t like coffee.

3.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
APPEARANCE ? perfectly black with dark caramel colored head.
NOSE ? absolutely the most coffee smelling beer I?ve ever had.
FLAVOR ? for all the great nose, it comes up weak in the flavor arena.
NOTES ? Shigadeyo rates this in 2009, and had a much better review. I?m surprised that the beer has changed so significantly over the years.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Doskonałe piwo do analizy jak temperatura wpływa nie postrzeganie genialności piwa. Można rozpocząć zbyt nisko i nie zorientować się że te sztuczne smaki w nim kiedyś się rozwiną i powalą.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma: picking up a lot of coffee, some licorice, vanilla and smoke (like in smoked meat). Smooth mouth feel! Taste: coffee, burned meat, vanilla and coffee. Quite bitter, seems to sweeten when temperature rise.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Small bottle, deep black beer, almost purple deep brown head faded to nothing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted barley, dark fruits.
Taste is sweet coffee, vanillas, dried plum, molasses and burnt sugar. Palate is thick and rich, carbonation subdued. This is good, rich and roasty, but too sweet overall.
