4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft taster at Bavarian Lodge. A solid black body and dark brown head. The smell is light coffee, with a slight tang of… orange peel. The first sip kind of vibrates on my tongue. The coffee aspect is mild, yet spicy. Like a light roast Sumatra coffee, and none of the roast malt of the usual strong stout. Light on alcohol. Some vanilla notes midway through my glass. After taking my notes, I looked up more details on this coffee, and found that "weasel coffee" is supposedly made much more mellow, even fermented, by enzymes during its trip through the critter’s GI. Not having tried the actual coffee, I can only say it’s reported characteristics come out very nicely in this beer. I’ve also learned that Vietnamese researchers have isolated the enzymes that make the coffee and may be mass producing it, as the ca phe chon civet is possibly endangered.

Draft at ChurchKey poured into a tasting snifter. Pours black with just a sliver of tan head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee. Tasting notes of caramel, dark chocolate, roast, bitter and roasted coffee, vanilla. Full body with a dry and bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very smooth for the ABV. This and the Vanilla Shake are probably my top two favorites of the Beer Geek brews.

3/13/14. Draft at Church Key. Pours dark on black with nice mocha head. Light roasty nose. Highlight is the wonderfully complex coffee notes in the mouth.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a deep brownish black from the bottle with a foamy brown head that last some time. Lots of lacing. The aroma is of coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. It tastes exactly as it smells: coffee, chocolate, plum and raisins. It’s really boozy and nicely bitter. Oily mouth. This is both complex and straightforward, and a great coffee stout.

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black with a foamy brown head leaving alittle lacing, and aroma of roast malt, oats, fruity hop, coffee. Taste is sweetish roasted malt, toffee, dark fruits, hoppy, chocolate & dark coffee, with some lingering earthy bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, warming bitter finish. Very drinkable indeed!

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Aroma: Roasty, hints of undifined sour flowery notes, hookah, liquorishy, some spices. Apperance: Pours crued oil black, small short brown head. Taste: Rich roasted notes, liquorish, smoke, hookah, bitter like chocolate, bitter like coffee. Palate: thick oily feel. Overall: I might be colored by the former ratings - but its one of the most interesting stout-tastings I had, a lot of new tastes - not a every day beer (maybe not even monthy) But if you like to try new - this is!

An offering from krompt and we were both very impressed. Intense coffee, roast and poop taste and aroma minus the poop. Who thought fecal matter could taste so good?

Herbal, almost minty flavor fades into coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. For beer flavored with cat shit, this is incredibly good. Though had I known it was flavored with cat shit coffee, I probably wouldn’t have bought it. They probably ought not to advertise it that way.

Heavy booziness with coffee backbone. A very good beer. Straightforward yet doesn’t disappoint.
