COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2012 14.99 1pt .9fl oz bottle ordered from internet. Pours a dark caramel color with very little head. The aromas don’t come off as your average coffee stout. There is more of an acidic quality here. Theres burnt malts malts, strong coffee, molasses, wood, chocolate, and sweet caramel under the other malts. Flavors of burnt malts, cocoa, coffee (which is not that strong here like in the nose ), and just a poof of hops underneath. Medium acidity, highly bitter with a sting of a bitter finish that lingers for quite some time, medium sweet, and a velvety texture. The special coffee used doesn’t add any more special flavors then most other coffee stout except it seems to be more bitter/ acidic and leave that bitter bite on the palate. A very good stout but a little over rated. Would not buy again because of the rarety and price but glad I did get a bottle to sample. A rare treat indeed. Now at least I can say I’ve tried some of the rarest coffee in the world. I just won’t mention where or rather from what it comes from....

Almost black color. Medium level carbonation. Lovely aroma of coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. Oily body. So rich, perfectly balanced. Chocolate beginning. Nice smooth, but intense coffee finish, that isn’t too bitter. Tastes like a mocha with a little something extra tossed in. Usually this style is too sweet, but this found the right point. Not much hops, just enough to keep the sweetness in tow. I think this would have been better at 8%, but I can’t complain too much. This is surely the best coffee stout I’ve ever had.

Bottle from Nørreport Estate Wine - Beer Paradise. Aroma is roasted malt, sweetish rich chocolate, bitter dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, espresso, coffee beans, mocha, touch of liquorice but not too much as I am touchy about liquorice, cream, wood. Flavour is chocolate malty sweet and moderate bitter. Body is full and creamy, incredibly smooth and drinkable, heavy but not boozy. Simply amazing, dangerously close to Imperial Stout perfection in my book.

It pours thick black with a minimal brown head. Original "speckled lacing", which match the weasel pictured on its label. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. Taste is very complex with this beautiful and strong coffee backbone (and the use the top quality civet coffee here, that known as Kopi Luwak in Indonesia and Cà phê chồn in Vietnam), which provides a hint of chocolate as well. Notes of vanilla and licorice are present as well. Alcohool well hidden. A full bodied joy for who loves both stouts and coffee. Absolute master piece!

330ml. Bottle at home. pours black with a tiny fast diminishing brown head. aromas of liquorice and roasted chocolate, and coffee. Heavy taste: Coffee, liquorice, and sweet notes. Taste is long lasting and the aftertaste comes with a taste of alchohol. Great full body, with medium to high carbonation.

Świetna faktura, lekka paloność i przyjemna gorycz. Aż kusi mnie żeby spróbować Kopi Luwak...

Courtesy of Jaghana.

Rating #1896 - 2015.09.20 - Bottle. Black as civet cat shit (assumed, not witnessed) with almost no tan cap. Aroma is heavy roast malts, chocolate, espresso, mild molasses notes,Taste is heavy on roast malt and coffee flavours, very mild sweetness of cocoa, coffee, smoky/woodiness. For 10.9%, the alcohol heat is less pronounced than expected. Wondrous.

Bottle. Black with almost no carbonation. Aroma of coffee, licorice, chocolate and booze. Taste reflects the aroma, but with vanilla as well. A fine bitter ending. A very, very good beer. Just amazing...
