Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

12oz bottle. Pours black with a very thin, tan head. Aroma has huge notes of dark chocolate, roasted malts, and coffee. Almost like cookie dough. Taste is a big espresso bitter. Big dark chocolate and milk chocolate, coffee, and espresso aftertaste. Slight alcohol warmth. Full body with a medium carbonation. Big full mouth feel. Almost syrupy but not sweet. Overall very nice. Huge chocolate and coffee flavours with a massive, full mouth feel. Awesome!

Black colour and a massive, coffee-coloured head. Full aroma of roasted malts and coffee. The taste is a striking mixture of a full, bitter hop flavours, sweet oatmeal, and dark chocolate, dried fruit and coffee. Very full, extremely complex and smooth, with excellent balance. The finish is the longest I have experienced. The taste lingers in the mouth for an age. The beer continues to improve in the glass as it warms. This example was brewed at the Lervig brewery and from a 33cl bottle. A wonderful, characterful beer.

Bottle. Black with a creamy light-brown head. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, burnt breadish, rich and inviting in the way that a dark alleyway in a good dream is inviting. The flavour has notes of vanilla, sweet chocolate, flipping over to a massive dark roast coffee side with dark roast to burnt malts and bitter cocoa. Creamy and full texture, this beer also has a drinkability that is at odds with its complex palate. Rich, refined, and smooth, magnificent stuff.

Nose is coffee roast and brownie. Flavor is mild sharp bitterness, soft cherry acidity, silky chocolate, warming alcohol presence, char, mild ashy quality. Finishes prettty dry, smooth oaty mouthfeel.

Brewed at Lervig. Black. Quickly diminishing brown head. Aroma of roasted barley, dark chocolate and strong coffee. Also a hint of dark caramel and dates. Full, and similar taste and aftertaste, superbly balanced with bitterness. An enourmously enjoyable beer, still having a good drinakbility despite its strong taste and high ABV

Mine says brewed at Lervig, not Nogne. Maybe it has changed recently. Better than the Austmann stout I just had. The head looks a bit cheap, it’s not thick and it disappears quickly. Very much coffee and bitter.

poured black like motor oil with no head. Smells of coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, tobacco and soy sauce. Tasted bitter with lots of bold roast coffee and tobacco, and a little alcohol burn. Bottle was a year old. I would expect this to be creamier with the Oatmeal, but still very good.

Tap at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade. Pitch black, thick brown head disappearing fast. Nose is sweet dark caramel, coffee and burnt wood. Taste is very complex, bitter burnt notes yet sweet and very drinkable. Fullbodied, but finishes quite dry.

Apparently this is the one with the famed loewak coffee beans, making it an exclusive luxury stout... Danish oatmeal / coffee stout brewed in Norway. Thin, tanned head, colour straightforwardly black. Complex aroma of indeed coffee beans, although I am not capable of determining whether it be loewak coffee or regular coffee; also vanilla, dates, caramel and toasted bread; taste a profound maltiness, caramel, chocolate, coffee, middle a bit sweeter and fruitier, in the finish the roasted bitterness takes over with loads of coffee, long and dry; mouthfeel grainy yet silky thanks to the oatmeal. Very interesting to finally get the change to taste this exclusivity, but I fail to see a good reason to add such expensive coffee instead of any other one - I guess this would be more of interest to coffee connoisseurs.
