3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent June 2013 consumed at home in company of Casey & Traci 06.07.13 Pours black with dark brown head, looks good. The nose is a good combination of vanilla and coffee with a goodly dollop of cream and chocolate or milky, creamy chocolate to be more precise. Whilst I like this beer and whilst I like the vanilla, maybe the vanilla is deployed just a little too heavily here, nice but a little overkill. I think the strength is very well masked I really didn’t believe it was that strong. Good beer, very good in fact, smooth, indulgent and really tasty, just not quite great. A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Pours viscous and black with a small, creamy, mushroom-colored head. The aroma is a wonderful vanilla, caramel and chocolate crème swirl. Full-bodied with a fatty mouthfeel and tickling carbonation. Unfortunately, the flavor’s sweet, nutty, caramel, and vanilla maltiness is beaten to high Hell by the huge bitterness of a heaping hop bill that doesn’t belong here. Said hop bill continues pissing me off right on through the long, burnt, heavily bitter finish. It’s named “Beer Geek Vanilla Shake,” not "Hop Geek Vanilla Shake." There is absolutely nothing painfully bitter about a vanilla shake. Knock this kind of “bitter for the sake of being bitter” shit off, Mikkel. If CCB brews this, it’s a 4.6. 3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is a bit shy to come forth. Just wisps of coffee and vanilla bubbling up. Also oatmeal is identifiable in there. Taste is much punchier with coffee and vanilla really clashing and entwining. Mouthfeel is the right kind of oily and carries it all well. Good stuff but fell a bit short of my expectations.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very dark brown with a sexy, orange-brown head. Hot greasy griddle, coffee, and a bit of tartness on the nose. Fat, big, powdery mouthfeel. Quite a bit of warmth. Very complex flavors. A lot going on at once. Coffee, dark sorghum, and Twizzler flavors. Anise emerges toward the very finish.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home 13%. Poured a thick pitch Black colour with a small mocha head. Big aroma of vanilla, fudge, sweet belgian chocolate, caramel, milk chocolate, lactose, bitter roasted notes, ash aftertaste. Interesting beer. But I don’t like the bitterness in this beer combined with the vanilla

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
P: Completely black with a dark brown/reddish head that doesnt last long. S: Bitter coffee, cacao, roasted malts, and some lacto. T: Bitter coffee hits you first, followed by some vanilla that starts coating the tongue, dark roasted malt, charred wood and dark chocolate. M: Thick with medium carbonation and this is somewhat bitter. O: Nice beer but the coffee bitterness was a bit overwhelming.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: AUG 16, 2014 33cl bottle shared in a De Dolle glass. Pours a thick black colour with a rather disappointing beige head which last all of a few seconds. Aroma is malt, coffee and sweetness. Taste is extremely (but not overly) sweet. Mouth feel is perfect for an imperial stout and the bitterness is hardly evident. No discernible taste of vanilla and the coffee is not overly pronounced but is certainly in the background. Less complex than other Imperial stouts I have tried but extremely flavoursome and close to being perfect. One of the best.
