Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent June 2013 consumed at home in company of Casey & Traci 06.07.13 Pours black with dark brown head, looks good. The nose is a good combination of vanilla and coffee with a goodly dollop of cream and chocolate or milky, creamy chocolate to be more precise. Whilst I like this beer and whilst I like the vanilla, maybe the vanilla is deployed just a little too heavily here, nice but a little overkill. I think the strength is very well masked I really didn’t believe it was that strong. Good beer, very good in fact, smooth, indulgent and really tasty, just not quite great. A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8

Recenzja z 18.03.2014. Kolor nieprzejrzyscie czarny. Piana wysoka, bardzo ciemna, wrecz ciemnobrazowa, powoli opada, zostawia gruba obraczke i troche oblepia szklo. W zapachu intensywna kawa, palonosc, lekki alkohol, lekkie kakao i czekolada, lekkie mleko, minimalna wanilia, aromat przypomina zestawienie serka waniliowego z kawalkami czekolady i kawy. Wysycenie niskie. Genialne piwo.

Bottle at home. Pours jet black with a creamy beige head. The aroma is hard roasted malts, roasted coffee and licorice. Hard roasted flavor with light vanilla and roasted coffee. Long roasted finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Systembolaget. Chocolate and coffee on the nose, also lots of vanilla. Powerfull smell. Creamy taste with coffee and lots of vanilla. Allot of roasted aromas. Rough and pointy taste and a bit too much coffee for me, but besides that interesting to drink.

Blak pour with a semi dense brown colored head and lots of lacing. The nose has a lot of roasted malt and licorice but not much vanilla at all. What a shame. The mouthfeel is creamy with soft carbonation. The taste is again on the roasted side with lots of licorice and just a little sweetness and infortunately kind of one dimensional - everything is a little too roasted here.

Shared a 33cl @ my friends house. Seemingly pitch black with a creamy, dark browm head. Aroma; roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, slight liquorice, cocoa and caramel. Taste; roasted, coffee, vanilla, cocoa and caramel. Quite a sweet taste yet a 'hard' body and feel.

Treacly aroma, a bit of marmite too. Black, small dark tan head. Rich full palate, smooth and sweet, pleasant carbonation. Deep roast, a little harshly burnt. Some alcohol warmth, definitely says at least 9%, but not 13% initially. Alas as it warms, the aroma picks up a fair kick of grain spirit. Not getting vanilla at all, and if there’s any coffee it just joins the generic burnt-protein stout thing. Alcohol again comes out in the taste later, and begins to make 13% quite believable. Pretty OK strong stout, but drinkability not so good as there’s no balance. Stretching it out as a sipper doesn’t help, as the alcohol just gets stronger and more obvious and intrusive.
