3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent June 2013 consumed at home in company of Casey & Traci 06.07.13 Pours black with dark brown head, looks good. The nose is a good combination of vanilla and coffee with a goodly dollop of cream and chocolate or milky, creamy chocolate to be more precise. Whilst I like this beer and whilst I like the vanilla, maybe the vanilla is deployed just a little too heavily here, nice but a little overkill. I think the strength is very well masked I really didn’t believe it was that strong. Good beer, very good in fact, smooth, indulgent and really tasty, just not quite great. A8 A4 T7 P4 Ov15 3.8

Palate: thick and oily. Overall: Really nice, powerfull, strong stout, but I really really missed the vanilla in my bottle.

11.2oz bottle gotten by ck1 at Roof Brothers, and brought back from FLA by me, then aged a couple of more months. Served on Thousandth Night at cellar temperature and shared with ck1 & Jan. Pours a dark brown with a tan head leaving some light strings of lace. Aroma has chocolate, vanilla and coconut. Taste is chocolate chip cookies, with caramel and vanilla, and light coconut. Medium bodied and smooth. Finishes sweetly with some alcohol, but really, quite smooth. Interesting and solid. May have to retry on a night without the heavy competition.

Little bottle thanks to mike. Very dark black pour. Looks flat. Like used motor oil. Smell is like a vanilla milkshake. Taste starts out with an insane amount if vanilla and switches to a lot of coffee. Might be the most vanilla I’ve had in a beer. Pretty good stuff.

Lotsa harsh roasty flavors, vanilla, bitter un sweetened chocolate and strong black coffee, little phenolic as well. Dry, bitter finish, vanilla and roast. So nasty i,m diggin it! This one poured a dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma was of coffee, and vanilla and lots of booze. Flavor was tons of vanilla and booze, like vanilla extract with a shot of rum added.

Pours pitch black with no head. First thing that comes to mind in the aroma is chocolate sweets, nice deep vanilla, the good old characteristic coffee, dark sweet fruits, liquorice, molasses and some woody notes. Smells like a big fat and sweet monster! Taste has lots of liquorice, nice vanilla notes, not as much sweet chocolate as in the aroma but plenty of roastyness. Also lots of roasted weasel coffee, alcoholic kinda woody notes, savory and weak soy.

So, pour pitch black, with a brownish hue and no head.
Aroma is crazy amounts of white chocolate with raspberry/vanilla syrup on top, vanilla extract and coffee up front. Some caramel, banana, hazelnut, licorice, oatmeal and some toasted stuff is in here as well. Smells so fricking delicious, with some port like/ slight dark fruity notes on the nose.
The taste is pretty darn sweet, with has plenty of bitter-roastyness to back it up. Really bitter in the end, with a slightly dry mouthfeel.
Semi-full, oily n’ slick bodied, with a somewhat flat carbonation. Thanks a bunch to Niels and Rasmus for this one.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours black with brown head, yeah yeah.. looks perfect, no surprise. Aroma: Milk- and white chocolate with lots of vanilla. Like white crunch chocolate bar! All other smells are almost gone, but there is a sweet alcohol to it as well.
The taste shows more balance between these sweet vanilla-chocolate notes and the more roasted coffee notes. Lots of licorice as it gets hotter. The coffee is pretty bitter, and the taste is much more "mature" than the aroma. Incredibly smooth and full bodied. Feels almost like melted chocolate down your throat.
