Bottle from OTM. The appearance is a deep creamy oozy black with a small deep brown head. The nose is flowing with whole vanilla beans and vanilla extract with some marshmallow touches. The flavors are rich with vanilla that really powers the profile Roasty malts fill in the edges at the beginning and eventually rounds out the beer. A nice spice from the vanilla bean. Not enough coffee in front for my preference or maybe the roast is on the milder side. Don’t get me wrong it is there. A nice spicy after taste with a good amount of drying. Very tasty beer.

No way!!!

Aroma: cocoa, coffee, vanilla, milk chocolate, roasted malts, light dried plums notes. Taste: vanilla, sweetness, coffee with milk, belgian chocolate, classy alcohol, dried plums and wood. Smooth, great balanced beer with really full body. Small head, average lacing and medium carbonation.

330 ml bottle from Gallagher’s Beer World/El Irlandés. Pours a pretty much black beer with a small creamy beige cap with khaki edges. Good lacing, no film. Nice combination of colors. Intense though not extreme aroma. Malty/woody with strong vanilla notes that dominate in the beginning. As it warms up, oaky/woody notes take their place followed by a secondary layer of coffee, roasted grains, milk and most of all burnt brown sugars. Final touches of cocoa, mokka and a trace of brandy round up this nice smell. Not a trace of hops as in the regular Beer Geek Breakfast. Maybe vanilla swallows too much the rest? Taste shows moderate sweetness with some roastiness. Intense and explosive flavors of vanilla, bitter chocolate, oatmeal, and strong dark toasted coffee. Not much bitterness really. Burnt sugary notes take central spot after it warms up. Never cloying, well balanced. It’s not really complex, but it tastes delicious, addictive and really amazing. Full bodied, but smooth oily texture. Highly drinkable, so much that I can’t belive it’s 13% ABV. In this sense it’s quite the opposite of the gargantuan Mikkeller Brian I had a few days ago. Low to mid carbonation, powerful finish. Long aftertaste. Oh no! It’s over! Overall this is a delicious oatmeal stout with amazing drinkability. If it was less expensive I would use it to replace coffee on a daily basis.

341ml Bottle from private import. Aroma: big coffee aroma mixed with vanilla and a tad of chocolate. At is gets a bit warmer, it’s smells a bit paraffin which is unfortunate since it was really great, lost a point there. Anyway it feels like smelling a dessert. App: pitch dark, medium brown head, great lacing. Taste and palate: full bodied, smooth, medium sweetness. In mouth, the coffee is a bit more present and gives a light bitter finish and combines well with the alcohol, the latter is also present and gives a warning feeling. Overall: wow! At first, when it just came out of the fridge, I wasn’t sure that would be that special but after warming the glass with my hands, the strong coffee aroma dissipated to leave some room for the vanilla. What a great aroma. The mouthfeel is also really pleasant. Could honestly see myself drinking this with my breakfast... Ok, maybe in camping or in a cottage. Great job Mikkeller!

33cl @ bottle. Imperial Stout da Mikkeller, prodotta in norvegia. Aroma debole ma gusto strepitoso. L’alcol si sente ma è ben nascosto. Da riprovare sicuramente, birra davvero ottima.

Thick pour, huge vanilla, cocoa and marshmallow smell. Tons of vanilla, together with cocoa, dark chocolate, caramel and coffee in the taste, the alcohol is barely noticeable until the drink gets warm. Medium body with moderate carbonation, making for a surprisingly drinkable beer. Amazing stuff.

330 ml bottle. Pitch black body with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is totally dominated by vanilla but also some delicious smooth dark malt, chocolate, roasted coffee and warming alcohol. Flavor is just like the aroma, lots of vanilla, smooth dark malt, chocolate, coffee and warming booze. Perfect balanced body and aftertaste lasting forever. I really love vanilla flavor like this in my imp stout, pure joy.

Appearance- oil, black, hardly any head, just a few tan bubbles which quickly disappear. Aroma- chocolate, loads of vanilla, cold coffee, leather. Something unpleasant, like rotting vegetables- smells a bit odd. Taste- thick and intense mouthfeel, bitter chocolate, espresso, vanilla pods, brownie, chocolate fudge. Clingy mouthfeel, oily and sticky finish. A bit unbalanced and messy, with the vanilla overly dominant- maybe something was off with this bottle.

12oz bottle to snifter. Typical thick geeky pour. Vanilla sweetness makes this extra delicious.

Small browny head, completly black. Notes of smooth vanilla, coffee and danish koldskål (buttermilk). Creamy and milky. The beer’s answer to a coffee.
