66 cl bottle - pours pitch black with light beige head. Nose reveals aromas of spices and peppers, roasted coffee beans and some chocolate. The tequilla touch is quite clear, especially when it comes to the flavour and mouthfeel; there is a constant salty undertone. This makes the beer special, but the flavour is a weird combination of lemon, cactus and the salty hint. I only drank about 20 cl or so... It’s too much.

Black body, rocky brown head. Great aroma of roasted coffee, liqueur, licorice, ash, a subtle bitterness. Full, alcoholic palate. Great flavour with coffee, ash, black chocolate, vinegar, burned malts, wood, some tequila. Not as great as the original, lacking in bitterness, but very good and interesting nonetheless.

Black. Brown dence 2 cm head. Woody, thick, slighty sweet, agave wibes in the aroma. Taste slighty sourish with late arriving coffe notes and a lot of oak and wood. Body a bit thin to carry all the taste. Slightly confusing but I kind of like it.

28/II/2012 500ml botle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ Klaas’ place - BB: no date on bottle (2012-169) Thanks to Klaas for sharing the bottle!

Pitch black beer, big creamy beige head, unstable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: whiff of school bag banana (you know, when you took it out in the afternoon on a hot day and it was all mushy and warm), mocha, vanilla beans, tobacco, dark caramel, coffee. MF: soft carbon, full body,. Taste: alcoholic start, pretty sour and spicy. And I do mean hot spicy, like chili peppers. Also red berries, some caramel, sugar. Aftertaste: sour and sweet, mocha, coffee, lemony touch as well, cactus jenever. Very weird. Not bad, but I was happy I didn’t need to finish the bottle all by myself.

Pours black with a frothy light brown head. Aroma is very weird. Green olives, pickled cucumbers, vinegar, three elements that dominate the aroma. Additional impressions of mustard seeds and herbs - much like a good vinegar dressing. Underlying notes of coffee and roasted malts. The tastes is very tricky. It has that vinegar/vinaigrette sourness along with the pickled cucumber feel from the aroma, but is also rather pronounced on the roasted malts and coffee. Not at all hop forward - the space is simply not given for the hopa to shine. All vinegar and coffee notes. Strange indeed.

From bottle. Blak with tan head. Big tequila and licorice boozy aroma. Taste has tequila, licorice and a herbal minty note. Sweet with a bitter finish. Pity the hops are lost in this. Very full on. Possibly a step to far with this beer

In bottle. Pours a black colour with a lacy light tan head. Aroma of tequila, oak, chocolate, coffee, liquorice and caramel. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Alcohol is quite present with lingering tequila. Im not really a fan of beers finished in tequila casks.

50cl bottle @ home, shared with Dutchdrebus. Almost pitch black color, decent sized medium brown head. Smell malts, roastyness and a huge amount of tequila-barrel-aged-flavor! Taste roasted malts, some sour-bitterness, hops and a lot of tequila-barrel-flavor again. Unfortunately it’s not making the beer better. Medium carbonation, medium body.

Bottle thx to benzai. The tequilla aging doesn’t make this beer better for me. Still nice coffee and chocolate notes, but the tequilla adds a sourness that i don’t like.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium sized, creamy tan head. Nose of roasted malts, tequila and hops. Quite sour flavor with roast, citrus hops, tequila, yasty fruits and alcohol notes. Medium to full bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. The tequila is unfortunately too dominant and this version is probably one of the few Mikkeller mistakes. The original version is much better. Unfortunately, my buddy did not like Tequilla so I was forced to drink the whole bottle myself. Cheers!
