A pretty interesting beer. I?d call it more of a black IPA, definitely has a strong taste of stout and IPA. Has a nice sweet stout taste.

Looks.. Very dark viscous brown/black, medium sized fluffy brown tan head that thins but lasts.. loads of lacing. Smells.. Mix of piney hops, maybe some grapefruit citrus, roasted oat some choc and generous coffee. Tastes..slightly fruity and piney hop flavours with roasty grains, malts and coffee.
Consumed and loved for breakfast before the Perth’s ’last’ ’ big day out festival’.

Aroma is smoked malts, almost like peat, raisins and coffee and toffee. Very dark brown to jet black with a medium brown head. Piney hope presence mixes with smoked malt character and bitter coffee on the finish that is not overpowering. Mouth feel is light like a regular IPA. Overall a very unique beer, as with most Mikkeller beers. Not sure I like the smokiness because it is reminiscent of a Rauchbier.

22oz bottle served in a snifter glass. An excellent example of the Mikkeller hoppy stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark clear black in color... Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, hints of hops... Flavor is light notes of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts with gentle pine hop bitterness... Roasted malts are just light enough to let hops come through... Really good

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle. Dark brown in color. A two finger wooden color head. The main scent is the coffee and lesser amounts of oats. A very unique taste. The name really stays true to the beer. A combination of hops and coffee. This beer has a long finish with more of the hops dominating over the coffee taste. Overall it is a very interesting beer and a nice spin on the oatmeal stout.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark color pour. Typical for a stout. Aroma is so complex. Roasted malt and hop definitely, chocolate obviously, oat, wheat, maybe some spices, maybe fruit? I can’t figure it out. Taste is...you can really taste this beer. Like a meal. Bready, I can taste the roast; medium mouthfeel, medium duration, this is where the spice comes in. The fruit...not sure, possibly some orange peel or grapefruit citrus. Bitter chocolate all the way through.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at bistro on bridge. Pours pitch black with a medium sized brown head. The aroma has a hop assault, quite astringent. Three is cocoa but this has black ipa all over it. The taste is quite bitter, cocoa, dark chocolate, long lingering bitter finish.
