500ml bottle served in a tulip glass. A: Wonderful bottle art, first of all. Dark label with draws of green hop cones. Pours a deep black color forming a big thin bubbled dark beige to brown head. Medium retention and lots of thin lingering lacings left in the glass. Lots of brown particles floating, mainly in the end of bottle pouring. S: Great nose. Powerful mix of coffee and hops. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, mokka coffee and great flowery hops. Really something in between a stout and a black IPA. Notes of oatmeal, earth and wood and resin. T: Roasted malts, dark chocolate, mokka coffee, oreo biscuit, wood, flowery and very grassy hops. Delicious. Slightly sweet sweet somewhere but, in overall, very dry and bitter. Leather and metallic notes. Dark fruit esters. M: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Persistent roasted and hoppy bitter aftertaste. O: Excellent drinkability. Masterpiece.

500ml bottle I got from ... Jeff? Been in my fridge for a while. Pours black, pretty large and lasting fluffy light brown head. Oh my, that’s nice - floral and dry and coffee and ... mmmmmm. Taste - wow, like an amazing black IPA (not two words I use together that often) - dry, acidic, some alcohol .... light body, astringent, airy, quite bitter, but small-scale. Love this.

pours very dark brown, thinish tan head. ample carbonation, but not overdone. pretty smooth feel. fairly agressive on the hop aroma, and the bitterness in the flavor, though the coffee and chocolate flavors and aromas still come thorugh quite nicely. not as good as the original BGB, but pretty dang good as an alternate."

Bottle, 500ml. A pitch black beer with a big frothy brown head. Aroma is of dried fruits, coffee, nuts, roasted malt and alcohol. Surprisingly for an IPA there is no grapefruit in the aroma. Taste is bitter with some carbonation and astringency. It doesn’t have a strong hop character. Aftertaste reminds me of coffee. This is a good beer, but not what I expected. I thought it was going to be more acidic with a strong aroma of grapefruit, almost like an orange juice for breakfast.

Bottle, 500ml. Almost opaque black with a frothy brown head. Aroma is of roasted malt. coffee and dried fruits, not the hoppiness I was expecting. Robust yet smooth and creamy. Tremendous dark malt character, with a heavy bitter roasted coffee and anis feel at the finish. Very rich and warming.

Bottle. Pour is black with light head. The aroma is a light malt with very light hints of hops. The taste is big malt, no mistaking the oatmeal stout side. Finishes with the bitterness of hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Mostly black with some deeper brown near the top of the brew, close to the chunky, tan, porous head that forms. Aroma of dense pine needles, hemp oil, roast, mild char, a touch of smoke, light brown sugar, big-time florals, & a slight essence of bitter grapefruit rind. Good elements from both the deep malt base & the intense hopping. Lots more bittersweet cocoa on the palate. Mild anise, lots & lots of roasted malt character, heavier charcoal underpinned by ashy pines, grapefruit pith, & lightly resinous lupulin acids. Roasty, semi-bitter finish, mostly malt with a solid oat flavor coming out with some warmth. Crisp body, silky yet dry towards the finish. A pretty tasty hopped up stout.

Poured from the bottle. Jet black with a light brown head that doesn’t really hang around. Smells of chocolate and a little pine/fruit. Taste is strong coffee and bitterness up front. Great hop presence. Quality stuff

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy chocolate, dark fruits, citrus, light pine, and alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small khaki head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, light molasses, and a touch of caramel. The finish has light-moderate pine, roasted coffee, and a hint of fruit. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Poured from bottle into small bulbous sampler glass. Very dark brown/ black with very little thin light brown head. Smell is an interesting combination of floral hops and roasted coffee. The tasye has much more coffee to me, but there is a little bit of hop apparent. Medium bodied with a smooth feel, very little carbonation. Interesting beer. I expected it to be more extreme, but it actually is pretty well balanced, if a bit more "black" than "IPA". Pretty enjoyable.
