16.9 oz. bottle. Pours black with a rich, dense, bubbly brown head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt, coffee and pine. Its an interesting combination. The flavor is more concentrated on the roasted malt, which is a fairly strong roast and features a bit of char, a lesser amount of coffee, followed by some pine. Dries out considerably at the finish accompanied by some strong bitterness that is both hops and roast. Good stuff!

50 cL bottle from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, California, served in a snifter. Pours black with a moderate tan head. The head mostly remains and leaves lots of fine lace. The nose starts with moderate pine and resin, and progresses to coffee, dark chocolate, and earth. The flavour is a blend of dry, roasty malts with coffee and dark chocolate, resin and pine, earth and citrus. The finish is long and hoppy with citrus and pine. On the palate, it is full in body with a smooth, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a very tasty stout with a huge hop aroma and bitterness. It has much in common with a black IPA, but is perhaps a little more full in body. Very tasty. 2011-08-18

Bottle from Capone’s, glad I found it when I moved all my beer for Hurricane Irene. Pours a very dark brown to black. With some lacing and head. Nose is full of fruity ketone’s with the Mikkeller yeast. more like a brown ale with coffee. First sip is toasted brown malt and coffee. Finish is solid like almost all Mikkeller beers.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours a solid cloudy black with a tan head. Aroma of wood, light smoke, earth, roasted malts, espresso, hops. Flavour of bitter, burnt wood, smoky, hops. Quite earthy, very dark roasted coffee, raw chocolate, very dark flavours. Unusual mixture of hops with regular stout characteristics, but they compliment each other nicely. Harsh on the palate, but interesting.

500mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours black with a medium, lingering light brown head. Aroma is loaded with hops, with dense woody and roasted notes. Flavour is intensely roasted and uncompromisingly hoppy, but in total balance, with undertones of coffee and oatmeal. Silky, smooth palate, with a highly roasted and intensely hoppy finish. The hop bitterness is quite astringent after a while, detracting from the other flavours present. Excellent, however.

Pitch black body with a small brown head. Awsome aroma of coffee and chocolate. Taste has coffee, dark chocolate, cereal and a great bitter finish that I find very balanced. Amazing.

Thanks Armando629!

Bottle purchased at "The Village Beer Market" in Buffalo. Pours a dark, dark, dark, man this is dark beer. Huge tan head (about three fingers hight) that settles down to a thin layer, lots of spotty lacing here and there, and spots of residual sugar on the glass walls. Aroma is sweet and of fruit of the hop (LOL), but you then get that malty chocolate as well as coffee and some minor amounts of hops. Taste is fantastic, dark chocolate, oats, coffee, maltiness. Nice mouth feel, simply put its good stuff. I wanna try it for breakfast now.
