4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
One of the prettiest beers I’ve ever poured. Smells is staggering. Dark roasted malts, good hop backing, slight chocolate behind. Taste is bitter hops, coffee, roasted malt and some smoke flavor. Really good, my first Mikkeller, but not my last.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Very dark brown pour, almost black, with frothy tan head. Roasted malt, light chocolate flavor, heavily roasted coffee-espresso, grapefruit, bitter pine, and slightly metallic hops. A strong dark stout, with lots of hops. Good, but I probably won’t drink it again.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Large snowdrift expresso/tan head. Aroma is thin resinous pine, light roasted malt, and perhaps some chocolate although it’s hard to tell with the pine dominating. Taste is roasted malt, oat, light chocolate, bitter coffee, and medium-level bitter hops and pine throughout. Neutral, slightly watery feel in the mouth. Extremely drinkable hop-forward stout. I like it.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Huge notes of pine fill the air, along with roasted notes, slight coffee and chocolate.
Poured black, with a big 3 finger mocha head, dissipated to a spongy film, leaving sticky, spongy lacing all the way down.
The big pine notes are lot more balanced in the taste. Though bold, they melt nicely with big chocolate and coffee notes. The coffee bitterness blends well with the hop bitterness.
The feel is nice and creamy, solid medium bodied, even a tad chewy. Nice bit of substance for the style.
Overall, I’m in love. I adore hoppy stouts, and this is a shining example. Kudos Mikkel.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Dark black pour, a little lasting lacing and a fresh coffee and black pepper aroma. Flavor is also dirty bitter espresso, some lactose, vanilla sweetness and finished with a nice bitter bite. Everything a coffee beer should be, I’d happily pay $11 for another bottle of this.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours jet black with a majestic light brown lacy head and a magnificent chocolate aroma. I hope this tastes as good as it looks and smells! Yes, it does. There is a delicious chocolate and coffee flavor with a smooth oatmeal texture that sticks to the palate, and a dry pleasantly bitter finish.
