Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is black (almost opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate, coffee), moderately to heavily hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with a note of alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent. Alas, this thing is over the top with both hops and sourness/acidity, so it’s pretty hard to enjoy. Nice roast and chocolate aspects, but otherwise pretty crude and rough and brutish.

Bottle: Mostly black with some deeper brown near the top of the brew, close to the chunky, tan, porous head that forms. Aroma of dense pine needles, hemp oil, roast, mild char, a touch of smoke, light brown sugar, big-time florals, & a slight essence of bitter grapefruit rind. Good elements from both the deep malt base & the intense hopping. Lots more bittersweet cocoa on the palate. Mild anise, lots & lots of roasted malt character, heavier charcoal underpinned by ashy pines, grapefruit pith, & lightly resinous lupulin acids. Roasty, semi-bitter finish, mostly malt with a solid oat flavor coming out with some warmth. Crisp body, silky yet dry towards the finish. A pretty tasty hopped up stout.

Poured from the bottle. Jet black with a light brown head that doesn’t really hang around. Smells of chocolate and a little pine/fruit. Taste is strong coffee and bitterness up front. Great hop presence. Quality stuff

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy chocolate, dark fruits, citrus, light pine, and alcohol. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small khaki head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring around the edges of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, light molasses, and a touch of caramel. The finish has light-moderate pine, roasted coffee, and a hint of fruit. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

Poured from bottle into small bulbous sampler glass. Very dark brown/ black with very little thin light brown head. Smell is an interesting combination of floral hops and roasted coffee. The tasye has much more coffee to me, but there is a little bit of hop apparent. Medium bodied with a smooth feel, very little carbonation. Interesting beer. I expected it to be more extreme, but it actually is pretty well balanced, if a bit more "black" than "IPA". Pretty enjoyable.

BOTTLE 33CL from Cunningham. Thanks, Henrik! Look: pitch black, beige-orange frothy head. Aroma: Intense aroma of coffee-flavoured candy, old coffee, with burnt even smoky notes, bitter chocolate notes, some sweetness and light hoppy notes come through all this black aroma. Taste: coffee, but not really roasted, strong hoppy bitterness with roast overtones.

Delightful. Brown black pour with decent head. Coffee and herby hop forward aroma. Great balance--neither too sweet nor too bitter. I’d drink this for breakfast...or any meal of the day.

Bottle @ Home. Very nice, not vanilla flavoured, oatmeal stout. Herby, dry, roasted and hoppy. Full and balanced.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks zvikar. Black, with thin white wave. Some ash and ink and chili aroma, bitter, inky, burnt and a little hot taste. Smooth, full-bodied, a little spicy and acidic finish.

Draft. Pours like used motor oil with creme colored head that lingers. Smells like chocolate covered raisins. Light carbonation. Not as chewy as you might expect an oatmeal stout. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
