330ml bottle from Co-op. 9% Wanted to see Mikkellers crack at the trappist styles - Monks Elixir was quite good. Pour is pretty standard, hazy golden orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma is almost tropical, getting more mango tangerine type citrus sweetness. Mouthfeel is crisp, medium-heavy alcohol character, medium carbonation. Taste is crisp but a bit of a mess for a tripel. Get a doughy maltiness typical of Mikkeller that really overarches the yeast character. Tropical notes present on the palate as well, but just a little all over the place for me.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Yeasty aroma with fruity esters. Summer fruit flavor with yeast. Medium bodied. Summer fruit and yeast linger with light spice.

From bottle. Pours hazy golden, good frothy white head. Sweet, yeasty notes and some fruitiness with a little grass. Spicy, citrusy and a little caramel sweetness to taste. Some floral & grass too. Quite a lingering soapy aftertaste and not very boozy considering the ABV. Medium body with pretty good carbonation. Not the best tripel

Draft (Oct. 2011, from notes). Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a large creamy off white head. The aroma and flavor had soapy, floral character, some sweetness, herbal notes and some citrus. A hint of the alcohol comes through. Fairly smooth for a tripel.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass golden, modest turbid, nice head. Moldy aroma. Starts strong, a bit alcoholic, quite moldy-grasy. Finish unbalanced, malty, soapy. Not my favourite.

Bottle. Pours clear orange-amber with a lasting and light lacing frothy off-white head. Aroma is coriander, orange, caramel, ripe fruit, grass, citrus and a little phenolic. Taste is near moderate sweet and light bitter. Body is medium, texture is viscous/slick, carbonation is moderate. Finishes sweet with lingering spice. I can’t make much sense of this.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours cloudy amber with a little sediment and a white tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is caramel, overripe fruit, orange peel, yeast, spices, and sugar. Flavour is orange peel, yeast, spices, and caramel – with a dry finish.
