Bottle. Pours dark mahogany with caramel lacing. Aroma of toffee, caramel, red wine, dark fruits such as plums and raisins, and wood. Flavour the same including burnt brown sugar. Luxurious mouth feel. Lightly carbonated, full bodied, sweet but not cloying. Very nice indeed.

Tap @ FWIBF. Pours a dark reddish color with a beige head. Aroma is of oak, red wine, red grapes and is very vinous, toffee, brown sugar, caramel, and some slight alcohol. The flavor follows the nose and is again really vinous, I get the red grapes, red wine, oak, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruits, vanilla, caramel, toffee and some alcohol. The body is full with an oily mouth feel. Overall a tasty and different BA Barley Wine.

Honey, grapes, oak, toffee and liquor like sweetness on the nose. Caramel, syrup, toffee, kalakukko (herring baked in rye bread), calvados sweetness, date and sweet white whine on the taste. The sweetness goes a bit overboard probably due to high alcohol percentage, but still highly enjoyable.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of red wine and oak notes, as well as some toffee and brown sugar. The flavor is very similar. I get a lot of molasses and fruity red wine notes, as well as some oak, maple, vanilla and the alcohol you would expect in a beer that clocks in at 12 percent. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice barleywine.

Mango to cream-yellow, very good head over very deep red-brown beer, lively carbonated with fine bubbling; Alcohol, fusels and C-hops, very fruity (citruspeel, kumquat, figs,...) Again alcohol very much in front; warmin, sweet-bitterish. Some dark chocolate too, and red, vinificating fruit; brown mushroom sauce. Quite well-carbonated, fully viscous and full bodied; Alcoholwarming. Aftertaste is definitely fusely-vinous, with incense aroma. Quite good BW, if severe.

Reddish pour at the FW fest. Off white head. Aroma is loaded with sticky malts, light tartness from the wine barrels, some boozey notes and a wisp of hops. Flavor is all over the place, in a good way! Red wine, booze, oak, caramel, toffee, sweet bready yeasty goodness.

38cl, new exclusive Danish brew Anno 2011, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex brew, alcoholic/vinous and slightly woody/sweet, heavy, yet balanced, cloudy, good head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

A big beer. Plenty of nice lacing in the glass of this brown colored beer. I am getting notes of vanilla and coconut. Expected some tannins and I am getting rum. Nothing else really comes through. Very smooth though. Not bad but I am glad that I got a sample and not a full glass.
