Very unusual beer, but great taste. Aged in red wine oak barrels. In my top 50 in the world. Very strong, don’t have more than one in an evening.

Bottle. Very dark amber to light brown. Thin tan head. Good lacing. Aroma is tart cherry, booze, oak, and earthy. Flavor is boozy, cherry, toast, and caramel. Full bodied and silky. Great beer.

Pours an opaque brown with a thin cap of mocha head that is very bubbly. Moderate lacing. I got a ton of sedimant in this beer. Aroma is so strong up front. A ton of red wine mixed with a lot of yeast and alcohol. A lot of caramel and dark fruit. If you hold your nose for a while, there is a slight rubbing alcohol burn. Awesome mix. Mouth is huge. A lot of yeast and alcohol. Dark fruits: mainly plum and figs. Some vanilla and caramel. There is a lot of Red wine that finishes off dry and sits on your tongue a bit.

Ya dancer. Drunk on a long train journey and thank God for it. Very complex nose- big big funk- cheese rind the wife offers- then booze with veg and malt with dark fruits. Holds up very well for the ABV which never dominates. Prune, little toffee, fortified wine, long boozey bittersweet finish. Just large large large and Mikkeller. Nuff said.

worldbeertaste (1670) - AUSTRIA - DEC 31, 2013
Deep dark red with a thin, frothy, lacy, lasting off-white head. Smells of heavy malt, wood, caramel, cherry, marzipan, caramel, banana and gingerbread. Medium to full oily body. Taste is smooth and malt. Sweet with wood, grape, caramel biscuit. Little hint of alcohol on he finish that is bound to decline with age. Beautiful barley wine.

Pours a cloudy red-brown with a medium white head. Aroma is a perfect blend of grainy English style barley wine and a fruity red wine. Taste is initially a sweet barley wine profile. The red wine comes in at the mid followed by some beautiful carob-like smooth malts for the finish. Nice, nice, nice.

375ml bottle from BierNavigatie. Pale brown with flocks of sediment and a small creamy off-white head. Full body with light to moderate carbonation. Sweet with bitter tones and some slightly sourness. Herbs, brown sugar, wood, spices, caramel, citrus and dark fruits. A great complex full flavoured brew.

27-APR-2012, bottle @home, from "Ølbutikken". Red/amber with lasting beige head that laces. Nose is tart almost sour-like with oak’y notes, alcohol, red wine, berries. Very dry. Taste is much the same. Not much big worse lesft. Dry, red Wine like and fantastic. Lovely. Even more so ón warming.
