Bottle. Havenít had Big Worse all that fresh before, so this is the first time Iíve had it with this giant Big Foot-like piney hop thing going on cleanly (even though I know itís barrel aged). Pours a slightly murky brown with a very sticky sudsy light tan head. Wow, this works way better than I was expecting and the barrel jumps out a lot more than it did in the Blake Hole series, unbelievably awesome aroma, big pine, huge huge barrel and vanilla, almost picks up some whisky-like qualities from the big barrel, some red berries/fruit, alcohol is perfect, lovely caramel, o man this really reminds me of... so familiar. Flavor starts sweet, caramel, then pine, coconut, big woodiness, red fruits/berries, warming alcohol (but in balance), this is like a great freaking American hoppy barreled barley wine, avoids the plasticy quality that Iíve found in the regular Big Worse a few times before, quicker finish though which is maybe the only downfall so far. Medium/full bodied, fluffy sizzling carbonation, quick clean finish. Love it. Canít wait for the bourbon!

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours really dark amber with some beige bubbles for head. Aromais marvelously confusing. Reminds me of my old chemistry set. Seems to be a lot of oak. Full bodied. Vinous. Oaky. Oak kills the sweet. Not exactly sour - but Imperial Flemish Red Ale?

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rating #728, bottle from Toft Vin. Brown beer with a small and dissapearing head. Excellent aroma od vanilla, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, moisty wood and alcohol. Flavor of vanilla, hops, a touch of red wine, wood, smoke, citrus and it is quite dry as well. Finish is roasted and warming with a bit alcohol, smoke and wood. Nice bitternes. One of the most complex finishes Iíve witnessed so far. Could be sweeter and less dry. Nice carbonation but could use just a notch of more sturdy body. Really great beer all in all, though.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at CBC, London. It pours a mostly clear dark ruby/brown colour with a small beige head. Lasting foam. Aroma of sweet caramel, plums, figs, raisins and porto wine. Taste is similar: server with toffee, red fruits, bread and red wine. Body is medium with good carbonation. Overall, pretty outstanding barley wine.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. pours rich, clean burgundy with an odd thin cirrus-like head. Aroma of sweet figs, and some vinous notes. Taste of intense sweet wine and vanilla that quickly transitions to oak and some cherry tones with a hint of caramel maltiness and some peppery spice. Tannins are quite evident. Very carbonated, sort of champagne-like, with a dry finish that complements the beer. Well done, Mikkeller.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home. Pours a pretty clear brown amber colour with a big frothy beige head. Incredibly rich and malty aroma with lots of oak, sweet malt, marzipan, fudge, syrup, caramel and some alcohol. Not far from a cognac. The flavour follows up with a complex mixture of the aroma with licorice, spices and a touch of roast in the end. Very rich and sticky mouthfeel, and a light to medium bitterness. A rich barley wine with a complex aroma and flavour. Almost like a journay.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Murky dark red pour with a fluffy beige head. Lace, thick. Aroma was big caramel malt, sweet, notes of vanilla, some wood and then some vinous notes. Very intriguing and quite delightful. Flavors were also vinous, very wine like. Not as sweet as I expected although caramel made an impact. Lightly bitter finish, woody and slightly dry. Big wine in the finish. Mouthfeel was super viscous, lightly carbonated but fitting. Not as íprofoundí as the bourbon but absolutely fantastic. Yet another outstanding brew from Mikkeller.
