Pours reddish brown with minimal off white head that doesn’t last long at all. Aromas of malts, dark fruits, brown sugar and alcohol. Sweet alcoholic flavor. Lots of brown sugar and spices. Alcohol burn seems a bit much but still a good brew. Full body with minimal carbonation and a thick, sticky mouthfeel.

375ml bottle picked up at Ølbutikken and enjoyed with Arild and Finn A. on a hotel room in Copenhagen. Ring of nice bubbles on the surface of a clear mahogany body. Intense vinous aroma with black berries. More berries in flavour supported by dark malts and candy sugar, closing with tingling alcohol and a bitter touch. Full bodied (02.06.2008).

Bottle. Pour is a dingy brown with a bit of a head that dies down in short order. Aromas are of dark fruit, brown sugar and toffee. On th first sip, my thoughts are that there is just too much alcohol and it overpowers the rest of the flavors a bit. The dark fruit an sweet stickiness are there, but they are a little underpresented. There is a bit of a zing to it that is kind of nice, but it seems more like it is coming from the ABV than from any sort of flavoring. Mouthfeel is kind of sticky and oily. Not bad, but I’ve had much better barley wines.

Sticky brown/amber look with a fine baige head. Aroma of grain, brewmash molasses and overripe fruits. Strong alchohol flavor mixed with sugery sweetness and grainy malts

Pours dark amber with medium head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma of sweet funk, malts and alcohol Nice barleywine flavor, with smoky overlay. Good beer.

Cool looking 12.7 ounce corked bottle. Pours a brown/amber color with a very nice initial tan head that settles to a foamy ring. Aroma is caramel, molasses, dark fruits and alcohol. The flavor is sweet raisins and figs, some caramel and molasses with quite a bit of hop bitterness, especially towards the finish. The beer is a little hot, I’m not going to say the alcohol is hidden, but at 12% that’s kind of expected and I like the fact that there is never a dull moment here. Definitely a sipper but I like it.

375 ml bottle from Ølbutikken. An instantly dying layer of foam over a near-clear brownish red body. Sweet malts and piny hops to the nose. Sharp, edgy hopitter taste. Sweet malts and alcohol with some fruity tones. Fat body. Strong bitterness and a noticeable afterburn from the alcohol in the finish. A punchy one. Could be more rounded for my tastebuds.
