Kaatuu snifteriin kuparinruskeana ja hieman sameana, tiivis vaahto on 1,5 sormen paksuinen jättäen vahvaa pitsiä. Tuoksussa vahvmpana on karamellinen maltaisuus.

Bottle. A- Red wine, sweet, bourbon, dark fruits. A- Mahogany color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Dark fruits, slightly sweet, slightly malty, bourbon, alcohol. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- A solid barley wine no doubt. The only thing I didn’t like was the appearance. I hate the yeast particles floating around in beer. Just a big turn off for me. Makes it look like it’s full of backwash. Otherwise an outstanding beer. The alcohol doesn’t seem like 12% but is still noticeable, especially as it warms.

Bottle at home, 08/06/14, weekend wind down beer. Lightly hazed rich amber wth a big old light beige head of frothy bubbles. Nose is fruit cake mix, orange marmalade, nutmeg, light boozey waftings, bitter hop presence. Taste comprises bitter orange, spice, hoppy pangs, candied orange peel, boozey vibes, rich caramel, fruit loaf, woody rinse, caramelised sugars. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Solid barley wine, drinks a good few notches below 12% and the hop presence preserves a bitter edge preventing it from getting too sweet and cloying.

Aroma of malts, caramel, strong toffee, candy sugar, ripe fruits. Flavour is massive sugary sweetness, alcohol, with a hint of bitterness. Quite sticky. I found the sweetness a bit much, but enjoyed the depth and complexity of the aroma.

21.05.2014, 0,375l bottle (bottled 02.07.2008) @ BBGTC tasting:
No head, just some bubbles. Aroma is slightly sweet, well oxidized, caramel malts, grass, burnt caramel, butterscotch, alcohol, dried dark fruits, chocolate, thinner. Taste is sweet, sugar, caramel malts, grass, alcohol, burnt caramel, dried fruits, old hops, butterscotch. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and watery mouthfeel. Fair enough, but not bad for being almost 6 years old.
