Nice and rich chesnut coloured beer with great looking yellowish head. Aroma is a la mikkeller, exiting and interesting complex. It has hints of fresh birchwood, forest soil, bee wax, caramelized cerials, Grand Marnier, Hors d’age Calvados de chez Roger Groult, nice refreshing hops, honey and old furniture. Taste is delightfull, strong and slight sweet malty. It also has a woody and earthy caracter with na boozy finish. In the finale there are nuts, dried leafs, carameized malts, some stonefruit pits and crispy green hops and herbs. Alcohol is presents but well integrated in this very complex calvados like barley wine.

Nice BW. Clean aroma of sweet malt and honey. Pretty brandy color. Thick and syrupy. Sweet with vanilla and caramel and a slight hop bite at the end.

The aroma is sweet and boozy. The smell had me excited to drink this. But then i poured it. This is by far the ugliest beer I’ve seen so far. A murky brown color with a foamy head and an overly large amount of floaties. Honestly thought about pouring this out. Just not appealing. Unfortunately, some of those floaties found their way into my mouth after settling to the bottom of the class which was something i rather not have experienced. Ended up following them out. What was left was a flat slightly sticky mouth feel. Medium/full body. Complex flavors but ends up fairly sweet overall. Not something i will have again.

Smells of pine, caramel and toffee, tastes mostly of toffee and caramel with a tad bit of bitterness to balance the amazingly sweet malts. Mouthfeel is very thick, perfect for a barleywine, not very much carbonation but it’s to be expected of the style. Mikeller did a great job, if it was more available it’d be my go to barleywine

Barwa: Brązowo bordowa. przejrzyste. Piana: Niska i szybko opada. Dorobnopęcherzykowa o żółtawej barwie. Aromat: Słodowy, czuć też owoce, zwłaszcza śliwkę i wiśnię. Pojawia się też nuta miodowa. Lekko landrynkowe.

Tap @ Mikkeller in Viktoriagade. Aroma of dried dark fruit, hops, vineous, some alcohol. Clear brown amber with off-white head, tiny lasting. Moderate sweetness, light+ bitterness, balanced. Full body, smooth texture, average carbonation, sweet finish.

Pours headless atop an opaque body. Nose of burnt molasses. Oh so smooth... Caramel squares, cigarettes, fig, burnt sugar. Very lovely slow sipper.

Oct. ’14. A 0.75 l bottle, one of the several from Svijet Piva store, Zagreb shared that evening. This one poured lightly hazy copper-amber body with a small head. Of course, malty aroma, mostly toasted like caramel, toffee, also orange (both malt and hop), other fruits and alcohol. Flavor was accordingly sweet and malty, showed up to be quite complex, too. Caramel, all the other toasted malt and fruit, especially on the sweeter side, then came the secondary flavors like wood or tobacco. Bitter component was much less pronounced, only a bit of herbal bitterness towards the end, but alcohol played its role here, too. Medium bodied, warming and quite sweet finish. It’s an elegant and complex barley wine, but definitely not among the tastiest ones, nor it did knock me down. Its price surely did though.

Bottle, bb 7/12 (_really_ breaking the "try a fresh one first" rule with this one). 13C. Dark brown, no head. Aroma of PX sherry, chocolate, dried fruit, dark bread. Almost flat. Presumably has thinned out a little, certainly well short of sticky. Bittersweet with dark fruits and sherry, bitterness creeping up towards the end. A little stemmy there too. No overt alcohol. Mellow, lovely.
