Deep red-brown with off white head that stays. There are lot of yeast flotsam. Aroma is rich caramel and astringency. Flavor is very rich deep caramel and some bourbon, burnt wood and alcohol. Hop spiciness underlies it all. This is a very interesting, well put together BW. Earthy and very strong with a long finish that stays tasty. In a world where BW can be any namby-pamby, this ones the biggest and worst that I can remember.

Normally I do not expect a big nice foam on barleys, so thats why am I not surprised a short foaming ends with sporadic foam residues. It’s also as much of 12% alcohol in beer is surely very natural. What I do not get in foam I get in return in the aroma. Already during pouring spreads a wonderful aroma of heavy fruit species. There are both plum, raisin and fig in flavor and there are also roasted malt, and much more there is something indefinable. In the taste, it has a fairly comfortable malt sweetness which comes from the brown sugar. It’s not really a minus, but make sure that the subsequent intrusive alcohol pedal down a little. For that there is a strong barley with much taste of alcohol should not be in doubt. It’s definitely an advantage to save it in a few years. The fruit leaves a good long finish and it is a delicious mellow and a little hop neutral beer, which I sadly enough has opened too early. I will probably return in a few years with a new review.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s. Bottled April 2011 at 12%. Dark ruby red, clear, lightly sparkling, big foamy tan head, light lacing. Aroma is boiled sweets, caramel, resin, pungent fruits. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is jammy, marmalade with shreds, sweet and sugary, boiled sucky sweets, orange liquer. Nice beer, but very sweet. Maybe should have waited a few more years before opening it.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours clear red -amber with a thick yellow-white head. The nose is rich, oily, sweet, toffee, stewed fruits, fruit cake, candied peel, brandy, honeycomb and such like. The taste is smooth upfront, oily, juicy, marmalade, jammy, boozy boost, toffee, fruit cake, spicy booze, wheatabix, candied peel, hot cross and stewed peach with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily moth-feel. Sweet, but still pretty quaffable. Good one.

Draught at Mikkeller Bangkok. Gorgeous deep mahogany colour, small head. The aroma is full with fruity notes, toffee. The flavour has near perfect strong sweetness, caramel, fruity hops, bitterness from the hops. So good, I could drink this all night.

Tap@ Mikkeller bar. Red amber colored beer with a thick creamy off white head. Raisins, bread, sweetness, very malty. Flavor has bready malts, barley, raisins, dates, some alcohol warmth. Long finish with raisins. Nice sipper.

Tap. Deep amber with small head. Typical strong sweet caramel malt body that I associate with Mikkeller. Hops are buried beneath the sweetness a bit. Interesting, but would like something more hop forward.

用LEHMONN的聞香杯 St. Bernardus Abt 12 ,酯類氣息濃&# body,尾韻為苦ॣ Wine,不如說是Double Bock或者Strong Ale更貼切。

Bottle. 2011 vintage, enjoyed in 2015. Almost clear, deep brown/ruby liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, raisins, dried fruit, toffee, light booze, port wine and caramel. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, bread, raisins and light alcohol. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice but maybe a bit old.

0.33 bottle. Somewhat hazy, dark crimson color, and a small white head. Aroma of malts, red fruits, noticeable sweet hops. Very sweet, fruity, taste featuring some malts, again hops, delicate bitterness. Medium to full body, slick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is also sweet and fruity, amazing. Overall a splendid brew, short as that.
