Opened after 1.5 years of cellaring, Pour is a Cloudy, Hazy, Murky Brown with almost non-existent carbonation and no head. Aroma is sweet earthy fruit, caramel, bubble-gum & hops. Flavour is similar with lots of fruit, dates, orange, caramel, apple and hops. texture is slightly oily and defiantly full bodied. this beer has a sweet warming astringent alcohol finish and is enjoyable

On tap at Night after Monsters. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. Floral hop and alcohol aroma. Medium mouthfeel with sweet hop and honey and alcohol burn in the finish. A very good barleywine from Mikkeller.

Pours an opaque dark green-amber with a thin off-white that sees no need to hang around for very long. Aroma is booze for days, vanilla and dark fruit. I enjoy big, boozey barleywines, so we’re off to a great start. Flavor is lots of alcohol. some bourbon, dark fruits and vanilla again. Surprisingly simple for what it’s worth, but very nice. I would definitely get this again.

Silphium (2709) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Slightly hazy straw-orange body, thin ring of off-white carbonation with light lacing. Nose of apple or pear juice, dusty and estery with clove, leafy hops, and dirty bubblegum. Hot, prickly body with lots of candi sugar, white grape, pear, and dusty, bitter cider-like apple; also leafy hops and resins and hints of rubber cement. Sharply carbonated; not heavy or cloying, but begging small sips and slow enjoyment. An exercise in restrained brutality.
