UPDATED: MAY 29, 2011 Rating #314, sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010
Medium head, dark amber / brown appearance.
Aroma of caramel, citrus, berries, dried fruits. Flavor was very similar, allthough the alcohol was present too.
Throat-warming beer, but the sweetness hides the high ABV very well. Very full body, creamy and oily. 6-3-8-5-16: 3.8
Re-rating @ CBF ’11
This time the beer was lighter, nearly golden with a nice head.
Aroma is hay , plums, pineapple, yoghurt, citrus, and some slime I used to play with as a kid.Flavor of plums, pineapple, fruit, alcohol and light bitterness. Soft and thick.

Apperance: Orange with a small, beige, head.
Aroma: Citric notes, Caramel, Hint of alcohol and pine.
Taste: Caramel, Alcohol, Berries, Citric notes and some syrupy notes.
Palate: Low carbonation with massive sweetness that is held somewhat back by the massive amount of hops used. Way more balanced that i expected it to be.
I was very impressed by this brew. Even though it is quite sweet there has been an effort in trying to hold the sweetness in check by using alot of hops. This was a perfect nightcap.

Pours orange with little/no head. Lots and lots of fruit on the nose, with some caramel and alcohol for good measure. The palate is dominated by the rather intense stewed fruit flavours with an almost whisky-like alcohol burn. Interesting, but I’m still getting my head around barleywines.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 16, 2010 Bottle. Hazy brownish orange pour with a short, bubbly white head that doesn’t stick around long. Aroma is quite boozy, and fruity as well, with notes of peach, apricot, pineapple, spice and caramel. The alcohol is less noticeable in the flavour, although it’s still there, but the fruitiness is much bigger with extra citrus and tropical fruit notes. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy and oily, with moderately low carbonation and a slightly warming, sweet and fruity finish that lingers a while. I was all set to find a multitude of faults with this but as it turns out it is actually very pleasant. Not exactly subtle, but considering the abv, this is fairly restrained. Overall a very good brew and great as an after dinner sipper.

A lot more austere than was expecting. Nose is all apricot and bubblegum. In the mouth the alcohol is anot really apparent for such a big beer. Very enjoyable though at $30 for a small bottle I won’t be back for more.

For me barley wine, dont seem to get in the category beer, second one I taste, and while the taste is not to bad, the lack of carbonation and foam is a big nono for me as a beer. Dark amber coloured, no head. Lots of sweetness and fruity.

From tap@Plan B, København. Headless. Slight unclear, brownish amber body. Big, vineos aroma. Tinned dark fruits, sweet malts, and shitloads of fruity and grassy hops. Taste is hot and supersweet, with strong nots of caramelly malts. Bold hop bitterness all he way throughout. Noticable citric fruitiness. Fat body. Mouthfeel is almost syrupy, like a sweet liqueur. Burning alcohol heath in a sweet and hop bitter finish. Kind of balanced, actually, this cute little sipper.
