On tap at Night after Monsters. Pours a cloudy orange with small off white head. Floral hop and alcohol aroma. Medium mouthfeel with sweet hop and honey and alcohol burn in the finish. A very good barleywine from Mikkeller.

Chuckaduck (669) - Highland Heights, Kentucky, USA - DEC 30, 2011
Pours an opaque dark green-amber with a thin off-white that sees no need to hang around for very long. Aroma is booze for days, vanilla and dark fruit. I enjoy big, boozey barleywines, so weíre off to a great start. Flavor is lots of alcohol. some bourbon, dark fruits and vanilla again. Surprisingly simple for what itís worth, but very nice. I would definitely get this again.

Silphium (3179) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 18, 2011
Draft at Crunchyís, East Lansing. Slightly hazy straw-orange body, thin ring of off-white carbonation with light lacing. Nose of apple or pear juice, dusty and estery with clove, leafy hops, and dirty bubblegum. Hot, prickly body with lots of candi sugar, white grape, pear, and dusty, bitter cider-like apple; also leafy hops and resins and hints of rubber cement. Sharply carbonated; not heavy or cloying, but begging small sips and slow enjoyment. An exercise in restrained brutality.

riseagainstme (48) - Michigan, USA - DEC 15, 2011
Draught in snifter....Clear yellow pour, seriously looks like budweiser or something similar...Aroma is sweet almost candy like...Taste is sweet with some caramel and fruit but mostly alcohol and more alcohol and when I got past the alcohol really just way too sweet.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange. smells of sweet citrus, plum and phenols. Tastes of sweet candy, berries, oranges and finishes with loads of phenols. Body is full. Texture is syrupy. Carbonation is soft.

2010-06-19, bottle, 8-4-7-4-15=38
Hazy amber color. Iím quite amazed to find a fruity aroma; itís then followed by evident alcohol, and this is less surprising. The body has a medium strength, and there is a first impression of (Tuscan) mixed beans soup, a bit malty, caramel, sweet, some bubblegum. Correct bitterness, with some alcohol but not as much as the draught one.

2010-02-19, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 8-5-8-3-15=39
Hazy red amber color; medium creamy head. The aroma is very fruity (apricot jam over all) sweet, and already some alcohol shows; itís possibly flowery too, orchids. Good body structure, solid but not sticky; sweet caramel flavor, unfortunately immediately there is a burning alcohol coming up; strong bitterness, not as much as the sweetness and alcohol though; it seems that in the final too there is still some sweet fruit jam.
Very far away from an expectation of Barley Wine, at times it tastes like a mix of Very Strong European Lager and fruity Ale; extreme, drinkable, difficult, with too much alcohol to be fully appreciated.

2010-01-11, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 9-5-8-3-16=41
Hazy amber color, small head, nice lace. The aroma is delicate but very fruity, more than many other beers, lightly sweaty.
Good body but too high alcohol content, burning. Good malt and caramel flavor, fruity, sweet, very alcoholic. Strong bitterneess. Too burning. Stong bitterness, but overwhelmed by anything else in here.

bhensonb (11494) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 18, 2011
Bottle from Healthy Spirits (via joshuahfl). Pours hazy gold with a few bubbles. Aroma is deeply warming alcohol with something like persimmon notes. Full bodied. Thereís a lot of caramel, moderate heat. Otherwise flavor is candied fruit. Would be interesting to see how this aged, but sadly this is my only bottle!

marcus (6772) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 30, 2011
Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours murky reddish copper with a acidic and fruity aroma. It looks like an unfiltered apple juice. There is also a very sweet fruity flavor with some vanilla and a hot alcohol trail. This should be cellared for a while before drinking.
