From tap at Plan B. Pours dark hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is crisp peachy hoppy. Dense caramelish and very floral to fruity in the beginning. Solid fruity, citric and peachy. Dense sweetness. Lingering fruity finish. Slowly building bitterness but constantly balanced by the sweetness. Starts to get slowly cloying after a while however, recommended to keep in half pint size at a maximum.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma is very hoppy - citrusy on a lightly malty and caramel back ground. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, alcohol, and citrusy as well as medium notes of dextrose and caramel, leading to a dry, bitter, and dextrosy finish.

Papsoe (25083) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 13, 2010
On tap. Slightly hazy amber golden with an off-white head. Intense - almost herbal - hop aroma. Fairly solid body with the carbonation being a little low. Intense caramel, again almost herbal, cough syrupy with the massive hoppiness almost vanishing under the sugary sweetness and the burning alcohol. Definitely a sipper - hard to drink and hard to digest. 080110

Draught@CPH BeerFest2010. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some mild yeast, alcohol and gluelike sweetness. Flavour is fruits, alcohol, a bit gluelike sweet. A bit unbalanced, and not all too pleasant.

Draught at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Hazy amber, no head.Very sweet. Sugar and pineapple-like hops. Fruity and syrupy with massive alcohol burn and inky bitterness. Too sweet, too strong, too bitter. A good recipe that hasn’t survived the upramping to these extreme levels.

30th January 2010
17.6% Version. Cloudy amber beer. Floral hoppy nose with elderflower coming to the fore. Light airy palate, dry but not overly so. Sweet floral hops, elderflower, chamomile. A whisper of well buried hop fruit. All underpinned by intense sweet toffee malt. Finishes with some Port Wine tones. Bloody Nora! This is a good one! Not heavy like you might expect and with some unusual flavours for a barleywine.

2010-06-19, bottle, 8-4-7-4-15=38
Hazy amber color. I’m quite amazed to find a fruity aroma; it’s then followed by evident alcohol, and this is less surprising. The body has a medium strength, and there is a first impression of (Tuscan) mixed beans soup, a bit malty, caramel, sweet, some bubblegum. Correct bitterness, with some alcohol but not as much as the draught one.

2010-02-19, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 8-5-8-3-15=39
Hazy red amber color; medium creamy head. The aroma is very fruity (apricot jam over all) sweet, and already some alcohol shows; it’s possibly flowery too, orchids. Good body structure, solid but not sticky; sweet caramel flavor, unfortunately immediately there is a burning alcohol coming up; strong bitterness, not as much as the sweetness and alcohol though; it seems that in the final too there is still some sweet fruit jam.
Very far away from an expectation of Barley Wine, at times it tastes like a mix of Very Strong European Lager and fruity Ale; extreme, drinkable, difficult, with too much alcohol to be fully appreciated.

2010-01-11, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 9-5-8-3-16=41
Hazy amber color, small head, nice lace. The aroma is delicate but very fruity, more than many other beers, lightly sweaty.
Good body but too high alcohol content, burning. Good malt and caramel flavor, fruity, sweet, very alcoholic. Strong bitterneess. Too burning. Stong bitterness, but overwhelmed by anything else in here.
