4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another delicious barleywine. Mikkeller has done a nice take on the American barleywine. Really tasty treat and while this is difficult to find in the Norhtern NJ/New York City I won’t hesitate to pick another up when I see it.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Golden red and slight hazy. The surface tension reveals that this beer has quite a bit of sweetness to balance its alcohol.
smell is deep with sweet, fruity aromas, port and damped spices that makes you crave for a sip.
The alcohol is remarkably well hid in the nose as well as in the mouthfeel (for such a young and strong barleywine.
The taste explosion is incredible and demands your full attention. It has portwine features. It is a beer that should be sipped.
The best barley wine i’ve had.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

Pours a golden color with a very small white head. Smells very boozy with lots of citrus notes, possibly apricot or tangerine. Taste confirms the smell, strong citrus flavor with a very boozy finish, i guess that’s to be expected from an 18.5% ABV beer. The alcohol flavor becomes even more apparent as the beer warms. Overall a solid release from Mikkeller but very different from your traditional Barley Wine.

To be honest with you, I hate these "beer rating" websites, I feel they overshadow the real gems that are out there with "top beers" bias when consumers are in front of that beer selection looking to make a purchase, especially in this smart-phone-saturated day and age. But, because I finally opened this on-a-whim purchase that I made well over a year ago, I figured I’d provide a review. Pours a fairly-clear (but not filtered) gold color, low-mild carbonation, mild lacing upon swirling. Smells of booze, tons of caramel, vanilla, spice, and a hint of dark fruit. Light-medium body. Tastes as it smells. There is a little heat after swallowing, but that comes with anything 18.5% abv. Stellar stuff. Take my advice ..... share this bottle with a friend, do not drink this entire bottle by yourself like I have.

Opened after 1.5 years of cellaring, Pour is a Cloudy, Hazy, Murky Brown with almost non-existent carbonation and no head. Aroma is sweet earthy fruit, caramel, bubble-gum & hops. Flavour is similar with lots of fruit, dates, orange, caramel, apple and hops. texture is slightly oily and defiantly full bodied. this beer has a sweet warming astringent alcohol finish and is enjoyable
