Bottle, thanks to Cole for the share. Pours murky orange, thin off-white head, no head. Nose is citrus hops, orange, booze, marmalade, grapefruit rind, caramel. Flavours are quite straightforward, citrus, booze, caramel. Meh.

My Bottom Line:
Hefty, unrefined caramel builds a portly body for this bold Barley Wine, as minty, green wooden hop flavors attempt to create some complexity.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sliver of foam floats atop the cloudy pale red.
-Alcohol flavors are overdone considering it’s over 17% abv...
-That being said, I would never have drunk this by myself. Way too powerful and just not pleasant enough.
-Brown sugar flavors are overwhelming, even after a few sips.
-The malts don’t present much more than basic sugar flavors.
Bottle from the first batch (17.6% abv).

Pours a clear dark amber with hardly any head and no lacing. The aroma is big and sweet with caramel malt and some butterscotch along with some booziness. Caramel malt sweetness is prevalent in the taste with a bit of citrus and obvious alcohol that is warming and increases the sweetness. Slick mouthfeel with a medium body and low carbonation. Big sweet and boozy flavors but not much else. Brought to mind cough syrup which isn’t what I want in a beer.

250ml from tap at Ørsted Ølbar & Café. Murky, dark reddish body, no head. Aroma of sweet dried fruits. Sweet hops and dried fruits in flavour, dominated by apricots. Moderate impact of alcohol on the palate. Alright sipper that gets a bit too sweet (Copenhagen, 09.05.2010).

Draught@CPH BeerFest2010. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wood and some mild yeast, alcohol and gluelike sweetness. Flavour is fruits, alcohol, a bit gluelike sweet. A bit unbalanced, and not all too pleasant.

Draught in snifter....Clear yellow pour, seriously looks like budweiser or something similar...Aroma is sweet almost candy like...Taste is sweet with some caramel and fruit but mostly alcohol and more alcohol and when I got past the alcohol really just way too sweet.

Unclear darkish amber colour, small white head ok lacing. Really sweet caramel toasty malty hoppy fruity aroma. Sticky mouthfeel. Very, very, very, very sweet cloying caramel syrup toasty malty frutish alco flavour, rather unpleasant. Long lasting too sweet alco finish.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
A-pours an orangish amber color, quite clear, with an off white head with a good lace.
S-the nose has huge hops, cheese up front, notes of funk, a caramel malt lies up front but citrus and grapefruit take over big time and don’t quite.
T-again huge hops, cloying sweetness up front, tons of cheese, notes of sulfer, hints of caramel, tons of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine. tons of hops in this with a light bitterness.
M-a little grainy on the palate with a medium body and lots of carbonation and a crisp finish. a little syrupy but soft on the tongue.
D-this is different, the flavors are off and don’t work well together. the hops and cheese just don’t seem to be a nice mix. not very enjoyable but the huge hop finish is interesting.

12.7 ounce bottle from Capone’s. Pours relatively clear dark straw with minimal white head. Quite frankly, this one looks wimpy. Nose is perfumy floral spices, hops, and sadly some plasticy fusels, almost to the level of a yellow rain coat thrown in a blender. Tastes rich, sweet, with notes of malt, syrupy honey, dark fruit, floral spices, and hops. Comes off like a spicier Irish Mist mixed with apple wine. Heat is apparent early and often. This one is unique and unconventional, but it cannot be denied that it is a bit of a mess. This one makes Weyerbacher Insanity seem like Fullers Vintage Ale.
Rerated 11:51, almost finished. This one degrades as it warms, getting pretty bad late. This is the first Mikkeller beer that I have had trouble finishing.
