A – Clear yellow with a weak head.

S – Loads of alcohol, a bit wood, sweet. filled with apricot and figs,. lightly tart

T – Taste is very sweet very filling, almonds, pear, apricot and caramel. Super balanced while boozy.

M – Very very light and nice fizzy champagne bubbles.

O – One of the very best Barley Wines I’ve tried, but I’m a big fan of all the Big Worsters, except maybe the raspberry and blueberry edition.

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours slightly cloudy amber with a little sediment and an off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are caramel, dried fruit, sugar, and alcohol - with an alcoholic finish. Way too boozy.

CBF 2014. (Noted as having 18,7% abv). Yellow coloured and hazy. Has no head. Heavy sweet aroma, almost like marzipan and warming alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet, sugar, wine, heavy alcohol.

Ktwse (2698) - SWEDEN - MAY 17, 2014
Pours murky brownish amber with low off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, butterscotch, cognac barrels (indeed) and, well, booze. Taste is incredibly sweet and somewhat boozy with a distinct flavor of caramel and pears. Warming, sweet lingering finish. Thick and creamy body with nearly flat carbonation.

SlackerMads (2052) - DENMARK - MAY 12, 2014
Bottle. Clear amber with a medium sized diminishing frothy off white head. Nose has notes of sweet sherry, alcohol, toasted malt. Flavor follows along the same lines with some white sugar, oak, figs, caramel. All together reminds me a bit of Bols Advocaat, and that is messed up. Plenty sweet and robust body, but not outright boozy. Warming for sure, but soft and smooth and makes for a really good sipper. Some beast.

Bottle. Light hazy deep amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, wort, raw sugar, toffee, wood, cognac, vanilla, caramel and sweet alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, toffee, dried fruit, wood, vanilla and cognac. Medium bodied with low carbonation with viscous liquid. Really nice but overpowering.

Very hazy amber beer, tidy off white head. Removing th cap gives a lovely nose of aged Port wine and toffee. Pouring the beer brings an unwelcome niff of blue cheese. Palate is smooth and dry with fine carbonation. Smooth malt with dry cream. Caramel - toffee and wood, slightly aged tasting, again as if from a fine old Port. A little spice but not much alcohol heat. Blue cheese follows the nose. Sweetish dried fruits, well buried. Dry finish. If not for the blue cheese this could be great.

The bottle has been open all night and day. It now pours far less hazy and all the blue cheese aromas and flavours are gone. Emphasis is now on lovely toffee malt, mellow cognac and wood. Little dried fruits. Lovely!
