Had a sample at mikkeller bangkok. Huge beer. Aroma of molasses, spices, orange, caramel. Bitter, very sweet and a little bit sour.

Tap @Chr 4-tal, Odense. Pours murky amber with a small, staying, creamy white head. Aroma has green grapes, pepper, caramel, oak. Low carbonation, fine oily and fat mouthfeel. Flavour has oak, vinious, caramel, grapes. Quite warming. A bit unbalanced.

On tap at Christian Firtal. Hazy amber with a small white head. Malty aroma of bread and biscuit with grapes, grappa, dried apricot and simple alcohol. Very sweet fruity and malty flavour, with some oak and white wine. Raw and primitive, but actually working a lot better than this description sounds

Keg at Brewdog Shepherd’s Bush, London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a small white head on top. Sweet, caramel, boozy aroma. Tastes similar, quite sweet, caramel, boozy, fruity, sticky. Incredibly easy to drink for 18.3%. Nice stuff.

Keg at BD Shep’s B. It pours hazy deep orange with a small white head. The nose is sweet, boozy, big wood character, damp leaf, spice, stewed orange, vinous, oily and cointreau. The taste is big, bold, boozy, vinous, white grape, big prickly warmth, stewed orange, tangerine, candied peel, gooseberry, light floral, woody, cointreau and earth with a lingering warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Interesting, but soooo big and hot. A fun sipper for sure.

Bov (9904) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - DEC 10, 2014
draught@Erzbierschof - cloudy dark red-orange beer with a little foam left; fair woody aroma with notes of nuts and berries; hints of soja and quince marmamalde; full-bodied, thick and light sticky, light umami; some sweetness soon overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; some astringency and a long very woody fruity and nutty finish with a strong alcohol presence

Keg at BD Shepherd’s Bush tap takeover. It pours a deep amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and boozy with notes of wood, malts, toasted bread, burnt sugar, white wine. Taste is again sweet and quite complex with notes of sweet malts, candy sugar, toffee, white wine, bubble gum and liqueur. Finish is alcoholic and quite sweet with light esters. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, definitely too sweet to be truly enjoyable

HoppyBudgie (757) - SOLA, NORWAY - OCT 17, 2014
Sweet nose, light barrel and hints of wine. Sweet malty barley wine, low on hops, just sweetness, oaky and hints of white wine on the finish. Could be cellared a while. A big kicker

Draught at Taphouse. Low fluffy and quickly disappearing head. Clear dark amber body. Aroma sweeter than expected of malt grass honey and wine. Flavour though bittersweet malt grass wine wood and alcohol not as dominant as feared. Low carbonation. Long finish.
