3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared a bottle yesterday with a friend. Black liquid with a very small brown head which disappeared in a few seconds. Lots of caramel in the aroma along with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Very sweet taste of bourbon, caramel, chocolate. Light bitterness. Nice alcohol burn, it wasn’t as harsh as I thought it would be. Creamy and thick texture. soft carbonation. Not that complex at all, still a great beer and a bomb of flavours.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a decanter, to a medium, mossy-beige head, not very long-lasting over virtually black beer. Walnut, portwine, higher alcohols, esternovae, Bourbon/brandy, vanilla, liquorice, preserved meat. Impressive doesn’t even come close. Bitter, walnutpeel, alcohol & fusels. Burnt grains/malts, sweet underneath from both the alcohol and the malts. Some astringency. Warming up, more vanilla emerging and incense. Fiery alcoholburn, throatexplosion. "Rather well-bodied", I’d say, if you catch my drift. Amazing beer, to put it mildly. Nearly impossible to afford, but for once...

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Decanted this monster, as instructed. Even though I’m not a fan of Black (the base beer) I’ve liked all the Black Holes, Black Ties, etc... The aroma on this was very bourbon heavy but also very inviting. The rest, though, was a bit rougher. I liked it more than some in our party, but a little pour goes a looooooong way. The barreling was great, and I expected more of a booze like experience than a beer. What kept me from liking it more was the some overly hot ashy tar that was prevalent in black as well...though I think this one better."

beige head no lacing. coffee coloured. aroma of vanilla, coco, boozy, wood, caramel. taste like aroma with a wry and bitter aftertaste. tanins from the wood barrels? quite full and rich. surely a special experience, decanting it like wine and letting it breath. soft and silky mouthfeel, medium carbonation. bottle 37,5cl

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home, thanks to Armin for sharing. Thick black appearance with a thin brown head. The aroma is incredibly nice with only a negative note of slight soy sauce. Mostly, it’s just German chocolate cake, coconut. I guess there is some chemical / boozy notes as well. Holy smokes, the flavor is incredibly rich dark chocolate, caramel, and coconut. Delicious flavor. And then you get a huge fucken vodka burn on the finish with a surprisingly strong amount of herbal hoppy bitterness. Sort of fun as a sipper. Jesus, there is a massive amount of bitterness on the finish along with vanilla vodka. Weird.

Looks like chocolate and water. Very oily, nice pitch black. No head obviously. Smells super chocolate forward with a touch of espresso. So boozy. So intense. Jeez. Holy crap this is terrible. Chocolate booze and vodka and moonshine

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
375 ml bottle thanks to Adam. Aroma is booze, chocolate, grain alcohol and a touch of anise.
Flavor reminds me of Black Tuesday. Hot, boozy with chocolate, coffee and maybe a vodka grain alcohol burn. Hints of coffee grounds and vanilla bean. Maybe licorice and a slap of booze. Did I mention this is hot?

There once was a man being chased by a ferocious tiger. Man run to edge of cliff; man falls off. Half way down he grab onto a branch. He look up; he see the same hungry tiger that was chasing him. Now he look down; he see ANOTHER hungry tiger, waiting for him, on the ground below. That not a good place to be! He know, for sure, he a gonna die. Then, outta corna of his eye, he see a strawberry, hanging from that same branch. Well he pluck it, and he eat it... and.... It was the sweetest tasting strawberry he ever had.
