Date: April 6, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: West Lakeview Description: Black pour with nice amount of head that faded quickly and lacing. Aroma was chocolate, vanilla, wood and bourbon. Taste was similar with aroma and I am just getting too drunk to add more detail at this point.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 dfhhead25 (251) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 6, 2012
Aroma- molasses, bourbon, chocolate, roasted notes, woodiness
Appearance- black with a thin tan head, some lacing, definite alcohol presence
Taste- barrel quality sweetness upfront with some chocolate and toffee, smooth, silky middle, with some lingering bourbon, heat, and bitterness on the backend
Palate- medium-full body with a slick mouthfeel, lower carbonation
Overall- Very solid stout from Mikkeller here. Reminiscent of Dark Intrigue from Victory. I’m quite fond of the other BA beers in the series of the Black Hole and this one is no exception.

Mushroom and chalk nose, lots of ash. Very sweet. Very disgusting. Nothing good to say so I’ll just burn the rest of the character limit on this...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ChainGangGuy (4120) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Appearance: Black body, thin, beige head. You’ve seen one of these Black Hole beers, you’ve seen’m all.
Smell: Modestly aromatic notes of heavily roasted barley, low-grade dark chocolate, charred fruit, with a fusel edge to it and given a bourbon backing.
Taste: Fairly sweetness over the well-roasted malts, still ostensibly harsh, and the bittersweet chocolate taste, still a bit crude. Small hints of vanilla, caramel, and even, oddly enough, a hint of cinnamon. Those malts just remain harsh, chalky, and acrid throughout. Dry, sweetish, warm finish with some lingering chocolate-cinnamon hints.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-low carbonation.
Overall: It’s not great, it’s really not all that good, but, I’ll give it that it’s the best of the barrel-aged Black Hole bunch to date.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 dnstone (1984) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 11, 2012
Charred chocolate, vanilla and caramel aroma. Black in color with tan head. The aromas carry though in the taste with moderate alcohol tones.
