Bottle. Black with a minimal tan head. Nice, sweet aroma of licorice, roasted malt, coffee, alcohol and oak. The taste was not as heavy as expected. Soy, oak, licorice, coffee and alcohol. I kept the bottle in the cellar for about a year, I think that this beer will improve with further aging.

Fantastisk doft. Stor doft av stark tung kaffe. Smaken lite lättare och eftersmaken rent av lite tunn. Men i det store hela en mycket bra öl med en trevlig och inte för stor fatkaraktär. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

laiti (5567) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 30, 2012
37,5 cl bottle, BBE 18.03.2014, bottled 18.03.2010
Blind tasting @ lusikka
Rather thin aroma with vanilla, cocoa and some alcohol. Flavour is slightly sweet with lots of soy sauce and alcohol. Also some burnt malt and ash. Too much soy and alcohol here. My guess was Mikkeller Black. After I knew what this was, I could observe some peat in the flavour.

olio (5951) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 30, 2012
375 ml bottle @ lusikkas’ blind tasting. BBE 18.03.2014.
Pours pitch black color with minimal beige head on the sides. Aroma of vanilla, peat, alcohol, wood, malts, soy and some oat. Flavor of dark chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, soy, cocoa and mild dark berries. Way too strong alcohol burn dominates the flavor.

lusikka (6043) - Tampere, FINLAND - APR 30, 2012
375 ml bottle. BBE 18.03.2014.
Pours a pitch black colour with a small head. Aroma of roasted malts and ash with some peaty notes. Vanilla as well. Flavour of roasted malts, ash, weak licorice, wood, soy sauce and alcohol. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel and a long, dry alcohol finish with soy sauce. Not much difference with Mikkeller Black. Bourbon isn’t present at all.

Date: April 6, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: West Lakeview Description: Black pour with nice amount of head that faded quickly and lacing. Aroma was chocolate, vanilla, wood and bourbon. Taste was similar with aroma and I am just getting too drunk to add more detail at this point.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Bottle. Very dark pour with a big foamy brown head. Rich bourbon and wood nose. Full palate. Taste is wood, bourbon, some booze heat, and a bit of chocolate. Awesome.

Aroma- molasses, bourbon, chocolate, roasted notes, woodiness Appearance- black with a thin tan head, some lacing, definite alcohol presence Taste- barrel quality sweetness upfront with some chocolate and toffee, smooth, silky middle, with some lingering bourbon, heat, and bitterness on the backend Palate- medium-full body with a slick mouthfeel, lower carbonation Overall- Very solid stout from Mikkeller here. Reminiscent of Dark Intrigue from Victory. I’m quite fond of the other BA beers in the series of the Black Hole and this one is no exception.

magdalar (513) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - APR 2, 2012
375ml bottle. Pours black, with no real head. Smells rich of Bourbon and vanilla, roasted malt, wood, and chocolate. Tastes of a heavy sweetness, with a medium bitterness, lots of roasted malt character, chocolate. Medium bodied, no carbonation, oily/creamy texture. FInishes very dry, of wood and chocolate.

375mL thanks to beerandblues2. Decent tan lace on a thicker, deep head. Nose is shaper whisky, sharp chilies, oxidized chocolate. Taste is very hot, spicy, tawny. Palate is tart and tangy. Decent.
