Tap at brewdog. Black with tan head. Aroma has licorice, some cognac and alcohol. Taste is similar. Probably my least favorite of the black hole BA’s

On tap @ Brewdog Bar, Edinburgh. Pours dark opaque with a coffee like crema on top. The nose has chocolate, nuts and sweet brandy. The taste has coffee, nuts and alcohol. The palate has a thick viscous structure, a tangy middle and alcohol burn at the end. Overall, I find it interesting but the alcohol burn does slightly spoil it.

1/3 oot ay brewdog. Looks BEAUTIFUL. Black with a punchy tan head. Smells of alcohol and sweetness. Tastes all roasted and of dark malts. Very sweet. Tangyalso. A challenging and rewarding beer. It has an acidity which sweeps up after. Wild stuff.

26-AUG-2011, bottle @home, from "Superbest". Imperial Stout rating #100. Very very dark brown with huge light brown head that coats the glass. Nose is cognac - first and most cognac. Also some roasted notes. Taste is first cognac and then dark berries and roasted stuff like chocolate. Not burned though. Ends hoppy bitter and cognac’y. Extremely full and smooth with a tad alcohol. Fantastic brew.

Bottle at home, given by my parents when I turned in my master thesis. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt, oak, chocolate and cognac. Flavour is roasted with notes of coffee, chocolate, light bitter hops, honey and cognac.

375 ml green bottle poured a clear dark redish brown nearly black with a small lingering brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, oak, alcohol and light cognac. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth with a warming finish. Flavors of roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, cognac, oak, alcohol and light honey with a smooth warming lingering chocolate finish.

Keg at BrewDog Edinburgh. Black pour with a small fluffy tan head. rich boozy nose, chocolate, oak, some smoke. Sweet, silky palate with lots of chocolate and boozy oak. Very rich but well-balanced with some cognac booze on the finish. YUM.

bottle pours a pitch black color, with nice fluffy finger of light brown head. The original black hole is one of my favorite imperial stouts of all time so I was very excited to see these BA black holes on the market. Aroma is exquisite, orange, oak, vanilla, a soft funky note, with the presence of cognac. Flavor at first has stout like qualities, some bittersweet dark chocolate, then a progression of cognac / oak flavors, to a lasting, long finish with a coffee bitterness. There are some notes of lactose as well, along with an almost sour sensation, imparted by the citrus notes from cognac. Overall very nice; I liked the original black hole better but I look forward to trying some more barrel aged versions.
