Embrouille (2830) - SWITZERLAND - FEB 6, 2013
Bottled 375ml. Pitch black with no head at all. Leather, vanilla, peat and smoke are most present in the nose. Full bodied. No carbonation. Extremely smooth. Incredibly delicious- this is a great version of the Black Hole. Underrated in my opinion.

Pours black with creamy and frothy brown head. Initial aromas are vanilla, wet wood, seawater, sweetness. Flavours are wet wood, peat, chocolate, vanilla, sweetness from honey, some coffee, some booze. There is a lot of different thing happening In this one...tough to pinpoint all of the beers characterisitics, but I did enjoy every sip.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Toby, 30/12/12. Mid black with a thin tan head that clears to the edge. Nose is peaty booze, wood, dark malts, waft of smoke. Taste comprises full on dark roast malt, sugars, booze, peated whisky, bitter cocoa. Full bodied with an oily texture and little in the way of carbonation which then leads to a boozey warming finish. Good stuff !

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dirty brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of peat scotch is easily discernable with good amount of residual sugar and light dry roasted malt notes. Taste is a pretty intense mix between some peat scotch malt with dry roasted malt and quite an amount of residual sugar. Body is full with oily like texture and good carbonation for style with surprisingly no apparent alcohol. Not something for everyday drinking but still quite an enjoyable experience.

from Erzbierschof - pretty black indeed and with no head retention; deep aroma of phenol, whisky, black chocolate, vanilla and blackberries; almost no carbonation; thick like hell, robust malt backbone; some initial sweetness soon overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; very long and dry aftertaste of tar, peated whisky and chocolate with a never-ending bitterness and a solid warming alcohol kick

bottle was about 2 years old - Holy peat bomb, batman! Dark black chocolate. Ton of oak. Body is thin and flat, some oxidation and oily. hot finish. Peat smoke is huge in the finish, with black strap molasses. Dry, hot campfire. Had to drainpour most of the bottle.

@ Gyllenbock: Enormt rökig whiskeyton. Stor rund smak av våt torv men med en trevlig balans mot stark kaffe. Så gott

Sample from bottle which had been open a while, thanks to Gunnar. Minimal carbonation due to this. Black colour. Distinct aroma and flavour of peat smoke and heavily roasted malts. Too peaty for me.

Bottle. Black with a small tan head. Really a lot of whisky and peat both in the aroma and taste. This beer reminded a lot of a whisky from the Highlands. I like it a lot! Surprisingly "soft" body and mouthfeel. Loooooong aftertaste. Excellent stuff!

Davros (2066) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 20, 2012
Pours black with almost no head. Woody peat, sweet chocolate liqueur and soft spicy hops are present in the aroma, along with a fair whack of whisky. Similar woody and peaty flavours, along with roasted malt and some hot booze. No carbonation, really needs some. Seems a bit sharp at the moment.
