from Erzbierschof - pretty black indeed and with no head retention; deep aroma of phenol, whisky, black chocolate, vanilla and blackberries; almost no carbonation; thick like hell, robust malt backbone; some initial sweetness soon overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; very long and dry aftertaste of tar, peated whisky and chocolate with a never-ending bitterness and a solid warming alcohol kick

bottle was about 2 years old - Holy peat bomb, batman! Dark black chocolate. Ton of oak. Body is thin and flat, some oxidation and oily. hot finish. Peat smoke is huge in the finish, with black strap molasses. Dry, hot campfire. Had to drainpour most of the bottle.

@ Gyllenbock: Enormt rökig whiskeyton. Stor rund smak av våt torv men med en trevlig balans mot stark kaffe. Så gott

Sample from bottle which had been open a while, thanks to Gunnar. Minimal carbonation due to this. Black colour. Distinct aroma and flavour of peat smoke and heavily roasted malts. Too peaty for me.

Bottle. Black with a small tan head. Really a lot of whisky and peat both in the aroma and taste. This beer reminded a lot of a whisky from the Highlands. I like it a lot! Surprisingly "soft" body and mouthfeel. Loooooong aftertaste. Excellent stuff!

Pours black with almost no head. Woody peat, sweet chocolate liqueur and soft spicy hops are present in the aroma, along with a fair whack of whisky. Similar woody and peaty flavours, along with roasted malt and some hot booze. No carbonation, really needs some. Seems a bit sharp at the moment.

Bottle from Ølkonsortiet. Pours pitch black with a huge tanned head. Aroma of peat and ash. Taste is strong peated malts, roasted coffee, soy sauce, sweet, oily mouthfeel, extreme likeable aftertaste, whiskey playing in the backgound, light burning.

Bottle from beerplanet.eu. Almost black colored beer with minimal beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, peated whiskey. Taste, starts roasted malt, continues burned sugar, ash, overlapped with peated whiskey. Nice bitterness in alcoholic peated finish. Sipping beast. For me best of the barrel aged Black Hole beers I’ve tasted.

Bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a tan head. Aroma is filled with smoke, peat, whiskey, oak and charred oak, I also get vanilla, lots of coffee, roasted malt, sweeter sugary notes, dark chocolate, a burnt note and liquorice. The flavor follows the nose with intense flavors of smoke, peat, whiskey, oak and the charred oak notes too, along with roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, sweet sugary notes, liquorice, burnt notes and dark chocolate. The body is full with an oily mouth feel. Overall a great version of Black Hole and probably my favorite since I am a sucker for a peated scotch.
