37.5 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small yet deep amber glare and a small tan head. Aroma is burned rubber, dense smoked and dark malty. Dense smoked, plastic and sweet initial flavoured. Goes rather dry and dense smoked into the finish. Acidic and heavy roasted into a dry and almost burned alcohol finish. Acidic.

Bottled. An almost black beer with a little read shine under a dry brown head. The aroma has extremely strong notes of iodine, peated smoke and roasted malt as well as medium notes of whiskey and wood. The flavor is extremely sweet with notes of dextrose, roasted malt, wood, iodine, peated smoke, alcohol, and soy sauce, leading to an extremely dry finish where the notes of iodine, roasted malt, peated smoke, and wood lingers. A bit too much for me. Thanks yespr for sharing.

6th June 2010. RBESG 10 Grand Tasting at the Brasserie 4:20 Warehouse. Big thanks to Alex for allowing us to take this off the shelves at his warehouse! Black beer, no head. Sweet peaty whisky nose. Sweet chocolate and dark malt and whisky. Extremely well joined up. Finishes semi dry with a little warmth. Nice whisky RIS.

2011-09-18, draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 8-5-9-4-17=43
Black color, with medium sized brown head. The aroma is full of alcohol, peat, roasted malt, light sourness. Strong body, evident alcohol presence but well managed, with strong chocolate and malt flavor, moderate sweetness, pleasant combination of alcohol, smoke, peat, whiskey. Burning final. Somehow boozy, but very interesting.

2010-08-15, bottled 2010-03-18; synthetic cork, 8-5-8-4-16=41
tasted with the Black Hole Red Wine Barrel

The color is respectful of the name; it has a dense brownish head, darker.
As promised, the aroma is all for the peat whiskey: smoked, sea water, some paper; later it has some of the more conventional aroma of an Imperial Stout.
The body seems less strong then the Red Wine barrel; it has a good flavor of roasted malts, dark caramel, some malt robustness; the smoke is present and pleasant, but defeated by the roasted malt; it has some more sweetness and it’s less harsh than the Red Wine Barrel, also the alcohol is lesl prominent.
Very good, but compared to other Mikkeller beers or other peated beers it’s somehow unemotional.
