Dogbrick (11513) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 5, 2013
Sample at the "Far Out! Space-themed beer tasting" on 10/01/2013. Pours an opaque black color with a medium frothy light brown head that diminishes gradually. Patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of dark chocolate, wood and dark fruit. Full-bodied with a subtle vinous character and flavors of semisweet chocolate, roasted malt and a bit of black licorice. The finish is roasty with a chocolate and oak aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Corked 37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a tiny tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is chocolate, liquorice, vanilla, red wine, and roasted malt. Flavour is much like the aroma – with some warming alcohol and a bitter finish.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate roasted dark malt, tannic wood and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy dark roasted sweet flavor with medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid beer.

Sample from a 12.7oz bottle. Dark brown color. Minimal khaki head. Bits of lace. Great red wine, coffee, vanilla aroma. Bigger body. Very light carbonation. Nice light chewiness. Bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Alcohol is well-hidden. Great stuff. Very light carbonation, but very delicious.

750 ml bottle to taster. Looks good; a dark cola with tan lacing. Smells good too; dark malt, chocolate, and red wine. Tastes like it smells with some oak, but less balanced. Average on the palate. Good, not great.

Bottle 0,375l at Mikkeler, Copenhagen. Pours a black colour. Head disappeared quickly. Aroma of red wine, coffee, dark malt and oak. Taste of wine, nicely meshed with coffee and a subtle bitter chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Opaque black beer with a short lived mid tan head. Softish and semi dry palate, smooth. Rich dark malt smoothed out by mellow wood (but no sweet vanilla oak here). Mild chocolate and milder coffee. The red wine is subtle but definitely there and a nice counterpart to the rich malt. Finishes smooth and dry with a little zing.
