Light carbonation with an oily mouth-feel and a bitter finish. Alcohol quite present throughout. Very nice.

17th June 2012 Opaque black beer with a short lived mid tan head. Softish and semi dry palate, smooth. Rich dark malt smoothed out by mellow wood (but no sweet vanilla oak here). Mild chocolate and milder coffee. The red wine is subtle but definitely there and a nice counterpart to the rich malt. Finishes smooth and dry with a little zing.

OMFG. Now, I LOVE this beer, it fills every single tiny box of what I expect from a porter; and I would make wild passionate love to any of its female relations - but you just have this sense that maybe, just maybe, there’s more to come. One day a porter will beat this, but probably not in my lifetime, MY GODS - time to drink myself into a stupor and believe that Nirvana is chocolate honey with a head.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ACD (337) - Dublin, IRELAND - JAN 17, 2013
375ml bottle. Pours pitch black with thin mocha brown head; light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, dark fruit, brown sugar, booze. Taste follows suit with plenty of deep roasted malt, dark chocolate, mocha coffee notes, dark fruit, slight oakiness; big booze note as it goes down - plenty of warmth. Red wine barrel note only really becomes apparent in the aftertaste, pretty subtle and adds a good bit of depth. Full mouthfeel. Pretty well balanced and complex - nice.

12.7 oz bottle. Poured a dark black with a thick 3 finger dark brown head. Aroma is red wine mixed with a heavy imperial stout, very unique and interesting. The red wine barrels add a character that I haven’t had in any other stout. Taste is exquisite, starts with red wine, then chocolate.coffee rich dark malts and slight hop bitterness. Flavor is amazing like chocolate covered raisins. Silky smooth and heavy mouth feel. Great, excellent beer. Deserves a try from any one looking for a unique and tasty.imperial stout.
