Westmeister (1534) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - APR 16, 2014
sample at Classic City Beer Fest. Black pour. Dark dark fruits, red wine tannins, dark cocoa, quite bitter, some licorice, thick molasses. Heard they were retiring these, so glad I got to try.

NOTE to all brewers, please stop using synthetic corks ! Bottle @ home Pours dark brown . As good as no head, and what it does have, fades instantly . Smell is very full, oaty, bitter . Some oak and wine, but not too much . Very low carbo ( almost none ) Bitter, chocolate-intense taste , chocolate gets rediculously intense after the bitterness fades . To be honoust, the barrel is very hidden in this one . Yet it is an awesome beer, as I absolutely love chocolate .

Svesse (5875) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - MAR 9, 2014
(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee, liquorice, black-currant, oak wood, dark chocolate, soy sauce and aromas of red wine. Roasted, malty taste with black coffee, black-currant, blackberries, liquorice, anise, soy sauce, red wine and oak wood. A slight tannin sourness shining through in a finish with a certain alcohol glow. Quite bitter. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Not quite as balanced as some of the other Black Holes, but still a nice one.

henkjanwiegers (94) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 2, 2014
Pours a dark, unclear pitch black with no head. Great aroma, one of the best I tried. Tones of coffee, fudge, dark fruit. Almost no carbonation at all. The taste is a big disappointment though. Had it been anything like the aroma, then it might have been one of the best beers I’ve had in times. It is very flat, some mokka, a little soury and hints of cacao, but all very weak. Aftertaste is nice. Strangely, this BA version doesn’t taste anywhere as good as the normal Mikkeler Black Hole.

Damico (2356) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2014
Pours mostly unclear with no head. Aroma is the best part, bringing huge complex notes of all of it, wine, roasted malts and chocolate, vanilla, and booze. Flavor is similar, but the booze is very pronounced and spicy combined with the wine. The flavors of vanilla and chocolate are so delicious on the palate and much more pronounced as the temperature goes up and booze settles.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff aug-13. blir ingen fan av å lagre øl på rødvinsfat etter å ha smakt denne. Smaker bare surt. Svartvin? Tanninene fra fatet ødelegger et godt øl.
