Graham cracker in the nose. Or is it cardboard? Must be the rum Barrel? Decent beer but if I traded for it I dont think I would be to happy. Roasted malts and alcohol I presuume? Not that impressed.

Bottle: Pours with a pitch black body and a tan head. Lacing is precnt. Nose of coffee, vanilla, dark fruit and roasted malt . Flavor of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and wood among with alcohol. Full bodied, oily texture and soft CO2. Dry, alcoholic and slightly bitter finish. I like the origional version better. ★★★★

Strong coffee, oak and rum aroma. Dark brown, almost black. No head to speak of. Sour rum mixed with bitter oaky touches. Very good and warming.

You can smell this is the rum edition. Lots of heavy aroma. Sugary rum taste, with hops and roasted malt. High alcohol taste. A sipper. Great stuff!

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
In short: A lifeless mess of booze and sweetness. Not good
How: Bottle 375ml, foiled & carged & corged. Consumed when probably over 1 year of age
The look: Black body topped by a tiny tan ring of foam
In long: nose has a lot of booze (light nail polish sensation) with cacao and burnt brown sugar. Taste is a sweet slimy black liquorice, a shot of dark Sambuca, lots of awkward oak & tannins, cocoa powder, soy sauce, tar, a lot of booze. I know this is a very strong beer but I found the alcohol particularly aggressive in this one, much more so than in the Red Wine version that has the same alcohol content. Minimal carbonation, lifeless body. The oak barrels are very upfront but I don’t think I could have guessed Rum barrels in a blind tasting. Not sure what to say here, I love the base beer and I liked the Red Wine barrel aged version, but this Rum edition really didn’t do it to me. Weird. I’m pretty fucking pissed off I paid $15 for a 375ml of this crap … ok … let’s calm down … so the beer was expensive and not good at all, but I think that using the using the “f” word in a rating may be overreacting… that and my broken living-room window and my TV set smashed in my driveway.

Corked bottle. Pours a pitch black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is of rum, molasses, lots of dark fruits, some booze, vanilla, dark sugary notes, coffee, roasted malt and oak. The flavor follows the nose but is rather thin due to the lack of carbonation, I get some rum, lots of molasses and dark fruits, booze, vanilla, dark sugary, oak, roasted malt and coffee. The body is on the lighter side of medium, with a silky, yet almost watery mouth feel because of the lack of carbonation. Overall a pretty good Imperial Stout, but would have been better with a little carbonation.

Thanks to my brother for sending me this bottle. This is the final beer in the Black Hole series that I needed to try.
The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and roasted malt, with hints of rum and oak mixed in. The flavor is heavier on the rum, with the barrel aged notes of oak and maple thrown in. I also get a nice amount of roasted malt and molasses. The beer is fairly sweet overall and the alcohol is nicely hidden. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
