3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, shared by my good buddy Will Savery. Thanks, friend. This was really interesting. Pretty much a peat bomb. Thats all I really smelled or tasted. Maybe a bit of smoke and wood as well. Pretty easy drinking as this one seemed a bit aged and the alcohol had mellowed quite a bit. No idea when this was brewed or bottled. Most of the base beer is gone at this point. A tad on the thin side, but fun to try.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"third of 3 of our barreled black holes. overpowering is the key word here, which at first was actually quite nice. tons of peat on the nose and not a whole lot else. pleasant, but the stout aspects of the beer don’t shine through too well. seems hotter than the other two, though it’s the same abv. flavor is lots of smokey peat malt as well. no subtleties here. i expected this to be my favorite of the line-up, but it was easily my least. the other two were very good, and while this one was good, i’d have hard a hard time finishing if i didn’t split the bottle. my buddy said he felt like he could blow smoke rings after. nice to try. tasty. smells good. super low drinkability. this would have benefited from much less time in the barrels or a 50 50 blend. could’ve been amazing... had again last night with the newbies...still a palate wrecker."

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
375 ml bottle: I received this as a gift. I guess my dislike of scotch kinda ruined what I think would beer a great beer not from an barrel or from another barrel. Jet black pour. Minimal head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, smokey peat and band aids. Coffee, honey, medical supplies, raisins in the flavor. Alcohol is a little hot with this one.

Pitch black with small brown foam head. Some yeast in bottle. Aroma is whiskey dominated, so is taste. Not too much beer taste left. Good for small sips drinking. (Antwerpen 201404)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at the "Far Out! Space-themed beer tasting" on 10/01/2013. The beer pours an opaque black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoky malt and whisky. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, peaty oak and dark chocolate. The finish is earthy with a smoky Scotch aftertaste. Not as over-the-top peaty as the Peat Whisky version, and pretty good overall.
