Bottle. Rating #164. Thanks Gabe! Really good beer, nice, subtle agave and a little wood. Rich dark fruits and a sweet light roast. I really enjoyed this beer. (2563)

Best before 09/05/15, brewed 4y before
Black color, small sized brown head. Roasted malt aroma, quite mellow, with floral touch. Round mouthfeel, good flavor of chocolate and some roasted malt, moderate pleasant sweetness, and just a trace of alcohol.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: The smell is dark and burned, candid sugar, soy and dried peas.
Appearance: The brew is blackish brown, a small tan head, little lacing and good curtains.
Taste: A taste of burnt bread, ripe tropic fruits, mango and similar, a warm concluding bitterness.
Palate: Little carbonation, asoft and sticky feeling, a good body and warm dryness.
Overall: A nice black one, with a good spicy finish.
Note: On-tap at De Klomp tasting. Reviewed 2012-01-07.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Really nice variation with the tequila here on this one...slightly more thought provoking and complex than the other versions I’ve had (scotch, bourbon, and cognac). Lots of carbonation and thick slow fading head with sticky lacing. Dark as night. Tequila seems to bring out the honey much more than other treatments and moves this to greener more vegetal characteristics. The bourbon and cognac versions are more hedonistic and bigger, and the scotch one was way too dominated by the barrel, this one is much more restrained and almost delicate if that is possible for Black Hole. This might be my favorite overall, but depending on my mood and what I’m eating might prefer the bourbon or cognac.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aged for awhile. Nicely mellowed. Notes of coffee, pronounced sweetness. Lots of tequila. Too much. Interesting idea, just a little heavy handed.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught. Pitch black. Agave aroma with vanilla and oak. Very rich, but rounded and soft. Clearly high in alcohol, but rich enough to withstand. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375ml bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a thick, lacy, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee, tequila, and floral hops. The flavor of the beer is the same as the other Black Holes, and the tequila blends better than some of the wines but not as well as the whiskeys. Smooth texture. A good beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a reddish black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced fair lacing. Medium to heavy toasted malt, Tequila and wood aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex toasted sweet spice alcohol flavor with a medium to heavy toasted sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Complex good brew.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours black in color with minimal head. Heavy tequila aroma on this. Lots of wood, grass, and roasted malt. A noticeable green apple note, some booze, and a bit of carbonic acid. Sugary, sickly sweet, with burnt sugar. Heavy on the roasted malt and tequila. Lots of wood and grass and green apple. A little bit of a cigarette flavor to it as well. This was pretty rough stuff.
