Pitch black with dark tan head. Nose is fruity tequila, booze, slight sherry oxidation, mild soy, and silky roasted/coffee malt. Barrel/sherry/soy combo almost reminds me a tinge of pickle juice. Flavor is an even match fruity tequila barrel with chocolate and roasted malt. While not overpowering, the tequila is the dominant player. Some dry wood tanin and silky roast towards the end of the finish. Alcohol well masked. Medium road palate. A fairly decent beer with price point that makes it not worth it.

A - Dark brown-black with a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. Fades at a normal pace. S - Dark chocolate and dark caramel malts, roasted coffee, molasses, black licorice, oak, agave, tequila, vanilla, some dark fruit, and some booze. T - Dark chocolate and sweet dark caramel malts, roasted coffee, black licorice, molasses, oak, tequila, agave, some vanilla and dark fruit, some citrus and pine hops and a bit of bitterness, and some booze. M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a warming and sweet finish. D - Nicely balanced big imperial Stout. Nice body and mouthfeel. The tequila adds some nice complexity.

Aroma is malts, vinous notes and mild sweetness. The flavor is malts, vinous/dark fruit, an undercurrent of sweetness and a tangy/tart finish.

Bottle. Rating #164. Thanks Gabe! Really good beer, nice, subtle agave and a little wood. Rich dark fruits and a sweet light roast. I really enjoyed this beer. (2563)

Black color, small sized brown head. Roasted malt aroma, quite mellow, with floral touch. Round mouthfeel, good flavor of chocolate and some roasted malt, moderate pleasant sweetness, and just a trace of alcohol.
Balanced, harmonious.

Aroma: The smell is dark and burned, candid sugar, soy and dried peas.
Appearance: The brew is blackish brown, a small tan head, little lacing and good curtains.
Taste: A taste of burnt bread, ripe tropic fruits, mango and similar, a warm concluding bitterness.
Palate: Little carbonation, asoft and sticky feeling, a good body and warm dryness.
Overall: A nice black one, with a good spicy finish.
Note: On-tap at De Klomp tasting. Reviewed 2012-01-07.

Really nice variation with the tequila here on this one...slightly more thought provoking and complex than the other versions I’ve had (scotch, bourbon, and cognac). Lots of carbonation and thick slow fading head with sticky lacing. Dark as night. Tequila seems to bring out the honey much more than other treatments and moves this to greener more vegetal characteristics. The bourbon and cognac versions are more hedonistic and bigger, and the scotch one was way too dominated by the barrel, this one is much more restrained and almost delicate if that is possible for Black Hole. This might be my favorite overall, but depending on my mood and what I’m eating might prefer the bourbon or cognac.

Aged for awhile. Nicely mellowed. Notes of coffee, pronounced sweetness. Lots of tequila. Too much. Interesting idea, just a little heavy handed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a medium sized brown head. Aroma of tequila, oak, lime and vanilla. Pretty sweet to the taste, tequila, root cellar, vanilla, chocolate, lime and licorice. Full body, low carbonation. Amazing beer!!!

Draught. Pitch black. Agave aroma with vanilla and oak. Very rich, but rounded and soft. Clearly high in alcohol, but rich enough to withstand. Very nice.
