Bottle at Dan’s, pour courtesy of Aaron. Thanks! Poured opaque black with a small brown head that quickly dissipated. Aroma is chocolate, tequila, and a weird dill pickle smell. Must be the mixture of the tequila and chocolate. Taste is wood, chocolate mint, herbal, and ash with a bittersweet dill finish. The taste of pickle in this beer is really off-putting for me and this is my least favorite variation. Even with all the weird nuances though, this beer is still drinkable. However, let this tequila experiment be a lesson for future barrel agings. It just doesn’t work.

Aroma is similar to the usual black hole with a slightly musty tequila note. Taste reflects this. Quite sweet on the nose, common with the black hole series.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, dark brownish black with thin tan head, aroma brings notes of dill, chocolate, dark fruit, tequila and agave notes, weird herbal and minty notes as well. Taste is some nice toffee, caramel, tequila, chocolate, coffee, hints of guava with a herbal note, finishing fairly sweet, something off about it.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Black appearance with a brown head. Spicy, dill, cat piss, roasty chocolate, a touch fruity aroma. Spicy, thick herbal/spicy, spice cabinet, a bit syrupy, somewhat boozy, chocolate flavor. Not that hard to drink, but my least favorite of the bunch.

First the taste is sweet, followed by alcohol with a noticeable twist of Tequila, the aftertaste is evidently licorice. Thick in texture with medium carbonation. Fantastic beer.

Head: large, creamy, rocky, espresso
Colour: black
Smell: very creamy, packed full of chocolat, tiny hint of tequila mainly the typical ’agave’ vegtable fragerant, slight hints of coffee and this is mainly coffee bitterness, cocoa, quite some boozeyness too
Taste: start is pretty weird it really packs that typical tequila flavour and blends it really well with the main chocolat, coffee and quite the amount of sweetness level in the beer, after that a nice herbal grassy flavour hits in with a dry yeasty note too it , end is lsightly hopy and dry, aftertaste is very very grassy, fresh, little minty and again that fair amount of tequila ....
Normally i don’t like tequila but Mikkel sure made it very drinkable for me ;-) haha , nice one man !

Bottle (consumed with all of the other barrel versions). Pours very dark brown to black with a small beige film. The aroma has roasted malt, dark chocolate, sweet notes from the honey, the agave from the tequila, wood and alcohol. The flavor, although more smooth than the original, contains some harsh maltiness, wood, dark chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, tequila and honey. The base is not my favorite and these variations are not able to improve this significantly.

3/31/12. Bottle shared at colemanzuber’s Stoutfest 2012! Nice black pour with a big tan head that sticks. Interesting aroma, much sweeter, almost tangy and winey. Sweeter (compared to the others) flavor with a bigger oak and vanilla aspect and a touch of alcohol - not sure I could call it tequila. Not bad!
