Sample at the molten monthly beer tasting. Th8n tan head. Clear black pour. Smooth chocolate and alcohol in the aftertaste.

Intense dark in the glass, dry fruity winey nose. The beer starts intense heavy. Deep and fresh with lots of sourish wood and dark black malt. A nice balance between woody wine and dark roasted beer. Long but soft aftertaste, intense and fruity, deep, long lasting with a great smooth woody-fresh and roasted malty finish!

375ml bottle from the Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Deep black in colour with a thin tan head, good lacing. The aroma is fairly sweet and woody, some alcohol, light fruity sourness, some smoke. The flavour has some grape skin tartness to it, still lots of roasted malts, some chocolate, a bit acidic. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, acidic and roasty. This one was weird for sure. The wine barrel gives this an acidic twist. It grows on you.

(Bottle) Pitch black colour with lasting, dense, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with strong black coffee, liquorice, cacao, tar, dark fruit and oak wood. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, liquorice, cacao, tar, resin and slightly tart flavours of sour grapes and white wine. Solid resiny coffee bitterness in the finish. A warming touch of alcohol shining through. Full body, slightly oily mouthfeel. A certain sweetness coming through. Tasty and quite heavy with the white wine character coming through more in the mouth than in the nose. Very nice.

Aroma is thick with chocolate and coffee, with just a faint hint of its time in the wine barrels. However the bitterness from the wine really cuts through the beer , making it dangerously drinkable.

A- a dark viscous pour that traps light. A tight, very mild deep tan head that dissipates quickly. No lacing. S- barrel wood and chocolate are no strangers. Vanilla, and coffee are pungent and do bring a little sting. Rich, wet clay soil. Vegetal notes of tobacco and dirty corn husk. White wine does not make a strong showing here but makes up for it in the taste. Some butter and grapes, but nothing overwhelming. M- heavy oily and syrupy body. Languid carb. T- packs more of a punch where the aromas come off as more refined. Sharp vanilla and chocolate to start with sour wood and the white grape (sauvignon blanc?) tannins to follow. Hops, grass and a underlying lime citrus, tart apple and perhaps white peach weave their way throughout. Graham crackers and sour dough at re end with more muddled citrus and minerals. Solid.

"this one was a little weird. less influence from the barrels...some mellowing from the oak, but the astingency, however slight, took away from the nose, and especially the flavor of the beer. again, super smooth at 13%, but i’d pass on this one in favor of most of the others."

Expensive bottle@ trailer. Black body with tan head. Nice chocolate malt, honey, light coffee aromas with some fruity wine barrel. Full bodied with average carbonation. Semi sweet chocolate flavors with dark roast malt, coffee, and a fruity wine barrel tartness____roasty drying finish----not super drinkable, not bad either.
