4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2006 Bottle #39. Overwhelming aroma of dark roasted malts, liqour soaked fruits and lots of vanilla. Pours pitch black with very little carbonation, a tiny tan ring is barely spotted. Lots of coffee in the flavor, notes of chocolate, vanilla and brandy, reminds me a bit of some sort of vanilla/chocolate ice cream. Very intense, deliveres a small and pleasant alcohol burn to the throat. The vanilla becomes a bit cloying i think.

330ml on tap. Aroma is subtile coffee, light smoke. Appearance is black. Brown-ish creamy top. Awesome. Taste is sweet, light sour. A dry, coffee-ish finish. Espresso. Very nice but a bit to sour.

This is THE beer that turned me into a beer snob! Because it’s my first REAL beer I have no better review than that but highly recommend this deep and dark beer. Enjoy it slowly!

Taste from a bottle at FyneFest. Heavy sugar but good for it. Only a touch of tartness.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 0,375l. Black color with medium sized beige head. Aroma is very complex: coffee, dark chocolate, cherries, dark fruits, vanillia, a little bit hoppy. In taste there is a lot of sweetness mixed with nice bitterness and a hint of coffee and herbs. Very good one.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours black with a generous brown head. Aromas of dark fruit, milk chocolate, vanilla, wood, and liquor. Tastes of coffee, alcohol, tons of vanilla, sweet chocolate, fruit, and oak. It has a drying mouthfeel. Finishes with coffee, mild bitterness, and a warming from the alcohol. Extremely complex with layers of flavor. Delicious and worth savoring. Notes of hard liquor, maybe cognac? Wish I had another! It’s different from some of my favorite imperial stouts which tend to be more hop-heavy, but it’s every bit as good.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Large shared bottle.
Aroma and flavor have little besides coffee. Medium brown body with a poor head and a lot of sediment that sinks to the bottom.
O: a better substitute for cold coffee than for a fine Imperial Stout.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Reviewed on 14/09/14. Bottle, 375ml. A pitch black beer with a small brown head. Intense alcoholic aroma with dark chocolate, toasted coffee, molasses and nuts. Taste is bitter with a strong finish. Reminds me a lot of dark chocolate. Robust and complex. Aftertaste slightly alcoholic, but well balanced considering its high ABV. Only for the true beer lover!

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Black colour, grapfruit and other citruses in aroma. Taste is very bitter and its mostly american hops bitterness with some roasted malt notes. Medium body behind it. Its not a imperial stout more like imperial black IPA imho.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12.7 oz bottle. Aroma is kind of a Belgian nail polish remover. Taste is dominated by burnt coffee. Like burnt away all the liquid on a super dark roast. Some Belgian stoutness to it. Semi sweet dark fruit. Some well hidden boozyness. Ok but the Belgian yeast throws it off a bit for me.
