Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Wow second 13% beer in 3 weeks and second ever. Coffee, caviar, cocoa, cigar, wow! Where is the alcohol, can't taste it. And the beer isn't motor oil either! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black and intense! 13,1%. I was a bit expecting the taste of Emelisse-White Label but nope. The thing is with some beers some of the characteristics are distinctive like the aroma is amazing or the taste is amazing but with this one I feel like everything is well balanced. I will drink again

12.7 oz bottle (Green glass? Really?), poured into a snifter at approximately 65 degrees F. A: Pours a very dark brown, bordering on black. No sunlight gets through the beer once poured. The pale tan head dissipates fairly quickly into a ring with a cap of patchy islands, a foam archipelago. I saw no lacing to speak of. S: Booze and coffee are the first impressions I get from the aroma, with the coffee seeming more like a medium roast than an espresso or anything darker. Raisins are also present in the scent, wreathed delicately around a combination of rich earth and toffee-caramel malt. T: This drinks remarkably similar to a wine, a dark red wine. Raisin and grape flavors abound as it opens, wrapped around a core of light coffee and roasted barley. The toffee flavor comes through towards the middle, carried upon a wave of sweetness that brings vanilla with some black licorice hints. More fruit and coffee strike at the finish, which closes with some nice boozy burn. While there is some earthy bitter to this beer, the malt-sweetened coffee and dark fruit flavors are left to star. M: In mouthfeel, this brew is oily slick, perhaps not as chewy as one might expect for a stout. O: An enjoyable experience, quite possibly one which could be used to draw a wine geek into the world of beer appreciation. I might have liked a little more body to the brew itself, but the flavor profile is spot on for a sweetness-loving malthead.

Color is dark with medium to thin brown head. Body is super smooth with a medium-long finish. Taste is high bitter and low sweet. Aroma is coffee, alcohol, hop, fruit, mint, chocolate, roasted.

Aroma - Not many smells coming off this one other than bitterness. Bottled 04/13, so, I kinda expected the aroma to have died down at this point. Appearance - this brew has a very dark appearance; you cannot see through it even when holding it up to the sunlight. Light brown, khaki-like, frothy head that resembles that of a creamy porter. Head does not dissipate. Taste - the taste is ideal for a cool fall day: bitterness on the forefront w/ dark fruit, semi-bitter chocolate, and raisins on the finish. The coffee, however, has dissipated. Medium-full bodied stout. Palate - this is decent on the palate. Despite the high ABV, I envisage this brew being more substantial when fresh. Overall, despite the high ABV, I envisage this brew being more substantial and bold when fresh. Although I can taste some coffee, the coffee flavor did not hold up--as expected--over time. That said, I did enjoy this beer very much.

Wow, heavyweight beer. Aromas of liquorice, cocoa and sweet malts, with a hint of summer berries in the background. This is beer to be slowly sipped, the thick mouthfeel and thump of alcohol come through hard, although there is a slightly bitter finish, making you come back for more . Amazing.

Brakuje gęstości, brakuje czekolady, alkohol silnie wyczuwalny... Słabo! Choć piwo raczej smaczne.

On tap at Brewdog Cardiff, 1/3 pint. Black with a brown head. Aromas of espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice, raisins, slightly tart red berries. Taste is medium-strong bitter and light-medium sweet, spicy warm alcohol. Heavy body, slick warm mouthfeel. Delicious, strength apparent though, less balanced than the best impy stouts I?ve had. Still great.

"the vanilla and coffee are most apparent on the nose. chocolate as well, and a little alcohol. smooth brew, as was a couple of the barreled versions. honey a little more evident in the flavor which is quite sweet, but because of the roasted malt and char character isn’t too sweet. nice beer, but a bit steep to revisit much if at all."

Keg from Brewdog Glasgow. Whoo! Incredibly strong. Black. Intense. Smells like sherry. Bought it not realising it was 13%! Surprise! Although I struggled to drink a third of a pint, it's an interesting and complex beer, if not one to try again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
