COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Black with a oily, tan head. Creamy lace. Nose of roasted bitterness with some coffee. Vinous and a bit of alcohol. The coffee comes out with a vengeance. Strong roast malts and bitter hops. Oil thick body that coats the mouth heavily. Finishes off a bit hot and malty.

A pitch black beer with a small brown head. Intense alcoholic aroma with dark chocolate, toasted coffee, molasses and nuts. Taste is bitter with a strong finish. Reminds me a lot of dark chocolate. Robust and complex. Aftertaste slightly alcoholic, but well balanced considering its high ABV.

Bottle (375 ml). Best before 07/12/15, so probably around 4 years old.

Appearance: Pitch black with a medium easy to revive brown head and good lacing.

Aroma: It’s quite boozy but still a lot less than expected. Molasses, figs, plums, roasted malts, fainted coffee, vegetal notes and chocolate.

Taste: Quite sweet and dried fruits forward with molasses, vegetal coffee notes but without much coffee, roasted malts and of course alcohol (boozy but not burning).

Palate: Full body. Moderate carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel. Warming finish. Lingering dried fruits presence.

Overall: Decent stout and not too boozy considering the abv. Flavorful, but not super complex and certainly not very cohesive.
