2.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle into snifter.
Pours viscous, opaque black, with no real head at all.
Nose is roasty, big cocoa, with a sweetly vinous quality that comes through as rich sweet dark fruits and some alcohol, bit of tar. Bit nutty even. This is not your run of the mill RIS nose. But good - intriguing.
Taste is big and sweet - vinous, sour even. I think this one is a bit off. Nonethless, you still get a peek at the beer underneath - rich, some cocoa and espresso peeking through. But the odd lactic sourness - well, that doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to be there. Lots of berry flavors. Finish is vinous, bitter, lots of sickly sweet dark berry, sour.
Mouthfeel is thick and viscous. This one’s like oil sliding down. Could have used a notch more carbonation, but the huge body makes it just fine as it is - if only it tasted right.
Drinkability I can’t even comment on. I finished maybe half of the 375 ml bottle.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nearly pitchblack, shortlived tanned nice looking head. Aroma of honey, coffee, some booze, dried fruits and quite roasted as well. Taste of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, honey. Burns pleasantly down the chest. Nice, sweet and smooth and deffinately alcoholic but without being boozy. Lacks some carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Mikkeller, Victoriagade. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is big malt, liqourice boozy alcohol. The flavour is strong bitter with a rich roasty coffee dark chocolate dusty mineral liqourice bitter palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation. I’ve had better impy stouts but this is one of the best. The alcohol is well hidden. It gives a nice warm feeling but does not burn.

Draft at BD ShepBush. Pours oily black, tan head that lasts well. Nose of roast, dark caramel, chocolate, vanilla, muscovado, coffee. Tastes sweet molasses sugar and milk chocolate, touch of acidity, fruity coffee, roasty bitterness and cocoa. Full body, creamy thick mouthfeel, moderate carb, well-tempered booze, then long finish of molasses with that sweet and acidic note. Real good, super-smooth but still with some bite.
