Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Pours pitch black with only a hint of a mocha head. Strong aroma of coffee and chocolate with a slight dark fruit and liquorice scent. Taste is quite sweet and rich, not really bitter at all. Medium body, thinner in the palate and softer carbonation. Overall a nice stout.

Draught at BeerTemple. Very dark brown with almost no head. Full body with low carbonation. Quite sweet with some bitter tones in its finish. Roasted malts, coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, warming alcohol and some spices. A great full flavoured experience.

Bottle, vintage 2011, enjoyed 3 years after bottling. Pours pitch black, with an enormous creamy mocha head. Aroma is big, complex and amazing, with burned malts, coffee and muscovado, as well as cocoa, leather, wood, tannins and Quite sweet, but with astringent burned notes. Creamy, velvety body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts, vanilla and tobacco, as well as muscovado, honey and cocoa. Sweet coffee astringency in the finish.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2015 What a fantastic beer this is! The Black Hole really acts like a black hole dedicated to absorb every bit of you soul. Super hoppy on the nose, a big smell of cut grass exploded during pouring. Then came the chocolate and a big amount of roasted malts. The mouthfeel is really interresting because of this fine acidity that balances the alcohol very well. Not too sweet, well balanced, rich but not heavy, medium to big body, this one is a sure bet for any fan of big stouts!

Strong fresh hoppy aroma followed by a wave of roasted malt and coffee. Brown foam. At some point i had a reminiscence of Frankfurt’s sausage aroma. ABV above 13 goes unnoticed.

Odeur et goût de houblon et café. L’amertume n’est pas agressive et reste en arrière gout. On ne goûte pas les 13%. Le côté stout est présent mais bien balancé par l’amertume.

Bottle at Chez clem in Nantes. Ppours nearly black with a thin coffee colored head; aroma bitter hops, roast coffee, and dark chocolate; taste is initially sweet with chocolate, malt, and alcohol; then becomes bitter with coffee and hops; finish is a dry bitter. Excellent I
