4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, thanks to Hopscotch for the share. Pours inky black, 1-finger dark brown head, passable lacing. Nose smells black. Not sure how better to describe it, it smells like pure evil, with notes of graphite, tar, creosote, cherry blossom, peat, citrus, burnt marshmalllow, and scotch. The scothc becomes much more pronounced in the mouth, still with tar, plus espresso and molasses. Splendid.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle on the bus to the summer beer fest... Pours a deeper black pour with lighter reddish edges... Aroma of whiskey and burnt vapors... Lots of whiskey and a huge iodine finish. Loses the stout essence. Burnt ends and finishes uneasy.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
It’s pitch black with a nougat-brown, creamy head. The aroma has notes of hard roasted malt, wood, whisky, chocolate and licorice. The flavour is moderately sweet, bordering to sweet with a roasted bitterness and notes of hard roasted malt, dark chocolate, wood, whisky, light honey and coffee. It’s a very nice all-evening-beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a black color with a mediumsized brown head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma of whisky, tar, smoke, roasted malt (mostly coffee) and alcohol. Flavour is roasted malt, whisky, tar and very nice honey sweet background, with some toffee. Some light smoke here too, together with some grassy/spicy hops and a lingering bitterness. There’s also this really salty sea-like flavour too it, which also make me think about salty liquorice at the same time. Warming alcohol in the finish. Soft carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Fullbodied. A very nice big imperial stout from Mikkeller, once again...

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2010 Bottle, at Patricks. It’s a black beer (surprise) topped by a small tan head leaving some lacings. The aroma has a good dash of heather honey, with a whisky-like boozyness up front. A faint veggie-note can be found, and there’s a lot of mocha too. Mocha, alcohol, whisky, sweetness and lots of hoppy bitterness in the flavor. Full-bodied and warming in the mouth, quite smooth too. The finish is almost astringently bitter. A very complex one, definately not well balanced or integrated, but it gets better as you drink it too. Rating: 7-5-7-5-15-3.9. 100310
Bottle. A black beer topped by a dense, brown head. Honey and lots of salty licorice in both aroma and flavor. Peat and vanilla too on the nose. The flavor also has peat, vanilla and a good dash of mocha, finishing with camphor, roasted malts and a good dash of honey. Full-bodied and warming. I like honey, maybe that helps, there were different opinions round the table, and especially as it got warmer, the honey shone through. Well, I like it a lot anyway. 100409
