12oz bottle. Clear reddish amber pour with a medium tan head. Nose of fruit, booze and some dankness. Malty and sugary flavor with a semi-roasty and bitter finish. Not overly impressive, but I like the complexity in flavor.

"Bottled on 07/05/09" light brown-orange pour with thin fizzy yellow-beige head. very apricot-y aroma, with a deep sweetness and heady alcohol. like alcoholic apricot pie. similar flavor is more assertive, with intense sweet, sour, bitter, and alcohol elements. as it warms there is more vanilla and oak throughout, and overall it becomes more balanced. medium-bodied and very smooth, with a long bittersweet hops and alcohol finish.

The Dan Journal #315. Tasted 11/4/09. 330ml bottle. Hazy and brackish. Ring of off-white head. Malty aromas with a touch caramel and caramel. Full bodied with a big burn. Dark toasted malts and a big burning blast of tart citrus. The barrel and spirits are definitely noticeable. Might need some time in the bottle.

Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper orange with an airy off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel and butterscotch with some oaky whiskey notes. Starts with pretty good caramel malty fullness with some light fruity notes and peaty smoke flavor before a smooth semi-sweet and warming finish. Has good complexity throughout with a nice balance of Scotch flavor. An enjoyable barleywine.

Bottle into tulip @ the Beer Engine. Did NOT realize this was 12.5% which may have accounted for my state at the end of the night. Anyways, great clear orangey/amber color with a bit of tan head. Booze on the nose and pretty upfront in the flavor. Slightly sweet almost raisiny but the alcohol overpowers a lot of what’s going on in the beer.

Cloudy brownish color. Lots of fruit esters, booze, dark honey and a bit of wet woodiness comes out. Flavor is sweet with some hops on the finish. Scotch is noticeable but not overpowering.

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange/brown with a beige/light brown head. Sharp, tart dark fruit aroma with a remote candy-like note. Heavy, sweet malty and fruity flavour. Bit of wooden notes. Notes of apple and hops in the background. Sweet malty, fruity finish with slight liquorice notes. A bit cloying. 08-11-09.
