Visual: Plain classy label, Mikkeller style. Pours ultra dark brown, smallish creamy head, decent ringed retention, sticky lacing, some minute streams along the perimeter.
Nose: deep, dark caramel malty sweetness, mild oyster fishiness (7/10-pungency)
Attack: incoming crisp sweet-sourness
Mid-palate: syrupy mouthfeel, (6/10)-bittersweetness, medium sour-brightness, (MAIN) smoked malts, burntness, caramel, coffee
Finish: smoked chipotle spicy kick, malty bittersweet-lingering medium spicy finish.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle shared with jeevan. Pours dark brown, near black, thin tan head. Aromas of green pepper, roast coffee and chocolate. Taste brings heat, bit too much chilli for me. Prefer this barreled to soften it out.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It’s a spicy meatball. Not overly spicy. Quite nice. Duckworth’s sample and also one with Crompt.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. The pour is a very dark brown with a lingering head. The aroma is all porter, not much else. The taste is has the taste of peppers as soon as you take a drink. Lingers throughout, but not overly hot just a good spice. Quality beer and nailed what they were trying.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12.7 oz bottle poured into tulip (brewed in Belgium). Pours a nice deep, almost black brown with a 1/2 inch-thick head. Aroma is of roasted malts, oak & whiskey, chipotle, and quite earthy. Taste is bittersweet, leaning more towards the bitter end. There is also some heat from the chipotle. Not too much but it certainly can be felt. This is actually fun! First time I’ve had a brew with some pepper in it so I might be a bit biased, but still. Texture is slick/thin, with light carbo. Finish is a lil’ bit bitter and the oak sticks for some time. Overall this was quite the surprise! I can see (well actually taste) why it’s so well rated...! Mikkeller, you never deceive.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Continuous black, with very dark brown & ruby at the edges, topped with a cloud-like, tan head that grows larger than the beer itself & settles very slowly. Aroma is mainly roast & spice. Toasted, nearly burnt malts with char, zesty pepper, chipotle-like barbecue spices. Mild smoke & slight peaty undercurrent. Taste is smoky up front with some more barbecue pepper-y spices that come rushing in. Not so much "hot" or tingly, but quite flavorful. Roasted malts structure everything, light char & ash with more BBQ sauce, chipotle spice, & smoked peppers lingering in the aftertaste. A very interesting beer. The flavors are very nice, but almost so intense that they wear on your palate quickly. In smaller serving sizes, however, it is pretty nice.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
I was really worried the chipotle would be overpowering, but luckily it wasn't. Smoky, a bit of vegetal, with a good stout base
