In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

Fat på mikkeller bar. Dimmig orange vätska med fällande vitt skum. Doftar mandarin, sött och friskt. Kvick konserverad citrussötma sköljs över av en grym men inte överdriven rund beska. Satan va fin! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Pours hazy golden color, white head. Aroma of floral hops, mango, grapefruit, orange. Taste is medium sweet, bitter, grapefruit, orange, citrusy, hoppy, herbal. Nice long hoppy finish with herbal notes.

Hazy orange coloured beer is surmounted by a small and disappointingly quickly fading head. Aroma of sweet tropical fruits that strangely boils down to a very ripe, sweet and delectable tangerine with some mango accents behind. The intensity of the aroma is stupendous, but it’s just a mere overture to the main part. The taste follows with yet another blow of intense tangerine, mango, all nicely spread on a velvet facture that lingers on the palate for a while before the bitternes charges to tame the sweetness a bit. And the rest... is silence. So much character, so much taste and still easy drinking with no alcohol whatsoever. I simply can’t rate it any point less that it gets.

It doesn’t get any better than that. An absolute monster Double IPA. Extremely hoppy, fruity, juicy and resiny. High bitterness on the palate. Best IIPA I’ve had so far.

Color melocotón tupido con espuma marfil densa. Aromas de galleta, frutas tropicales y miel. Cuerpo denso, inicio muy dulce y afrutado, mango, con final seco moderado y regusto a alcohol.

Draft at Mikkeller Bar San Francisco from notes. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have orange citrus, herbal hops, toasted bready malts, moderate bitterness, probably a bit better on draft here than bottles based on experience.

Keg at BD Shepherd’s Bush tap takeover. It pours a hazy golden color with a large soapy white head. Aroma is sweet and fruity with bold juicy hops. Notes of ripe mango, citrus zest, toffee and hay. Taste is intensely bitter with notes of mango, citrus, caramel malts, booze. Finishes quite sticky and bitter. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, really tasty

In bocca mela caramellata. La mela verde è bella presente, così come il lime. Il finale è erbaceo e resinoso, secco come da tradizione. Birra ben strutturata con un buon corpo ed una buona viscosità in bocca. Oltre l’equilibrio io sapore è unico. Consigliatissima.
